Tyree, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. So, let’s imagine that you were advising someone who wanted to start something similar to you and they asked you what you would do differently in the startup-process knowing what you know now. How would you respond?

Ouuu great question, So there’s actually quite a few things I would’ve done differently. 1st I would’ve gotten my license at 18, I didn’t get my license until I was 22. Then, I would’ve also kept working and did real estate at the same time. I also would have put more time and effort into choosing a brokerage. When I first got my license I was so excited and just went to the first brokerage I found. I literally got my license on the 22nd of April and hung my license the 23rd of April. Now even though I would change all these things, I do believe that God does everything for a reason, and if I never made the decisions that I made I wouldn’t have learned the lessons I learned or even connected with the people that I connected with. I feel that every step and lesson sharpened me into the person I am today.

My name is Tyree Dones, and I’m a real estate professional, entrepreneur, and influencer. Formerly known as “TyreeIsMyRealtor,” your House Hunter in Real Estate, and “ohthatstyree” on social media, I’m dedicated to connecting people with their dream homes while sharing my passion & experiences for business, lifestyle, and growth. What I’m most proud of is being able to educate people on the process of buying and leasing properties. There’s nothing more fulfilling than helping someone obtain their forever home—a place where they’ll create memories that last a lifetime. What sets me apart in this industry is my modern approach to a traditional career. When people see me and my page, I want them to see someone they can truly relate to. I don’t just showcase real estate; I share my life too. It’s important for people to know that it’s okay to live fully and still have a successful career.

Learning and unlearning are both critical parts of growth – can you share a story of a time when you had to unlearn a lesson?

I had to unlearn being so hard on myself. In life, I’ve always set high expectations for my accomplishments and goals, and in my career, it’s been even more intense. Anytime I closed a deal, hit a milestone, or even had a video perform really well, I’d feel happy for a moment, but then that voice in my head would say, You could’ve done better. While it’s great to have ambition, I’ve learned the importance of celebrating my wins and being proud of myself along the way. It’s okay to strive for greatness, but it’s just as important to give yourself grace and enjoy the journey.

How’d you build such a strong reputation within your market?

I feel like I’ve truly built my own reputation. Every interaction I’ve had with clients or people who engage with my content has shaped how they view me, and I take pride in knowing that their opinions are based on the experiences I’ve created. I always strive to deliver the best service and put out meaningful content. While I do value the advice and input of my friends, family, and mentors when it comes to ideas or decisions, the reputation I have today is a reflection of my own hard work, dedication, and authenticity.
