We were lucky to catch up with Tyara Lee recently and have shared our conversation below.
Tyara, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Before we get into specifics, let’s talk about success more generally. What do you think it takes to be successful?
To be successful, it takes effort, hard work, dedication, and determination. Success rarely happens by chance; it’s the result of consistently showing up, pushing through challenges, and staying focused on your goals.
I believe success also requires resilience the ability to bounce back from setbacks and a willingness to learn and adapt. One story that shaped my view is about a close friend of mine who started a small business. At first, they faced countless obstacles, from financial struggles to moments of self-doubt. But instead of giving up, they poured countless hours into learning about their industry, improving their product, and building strong relationships with their customers. Over time, their persistence paid off, and today, they run a thriving business that serves as an inspiration to many.
This taught me that success isn’t just about talent or luck; it’s about persistence and the courage to keep moving forward, even when things get tough. Ultimately, success is a journey, not a destination, and it’s shaped by the consistent application of effort, hard work, and unwavering determination.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
About Me and My Journey
I’m Tyara Lee, also known as Tee, and my journey into entrepreneurship began with a deep passion for becoming the person I wish I had growing up and addressing the unmet needs within my community. From an early age, I was drawn to creating meaningful change in the foster care system and volunteering to serve underserved populations. This passion eventually inspired me to turn these efforts into a fulfilling career.
Like many, my path wasn’t linear. I faced challenges that shaped my perspective and strengthened my resolve. Growing up in foster care after being taken at birth due to my mother’s struggles with substance abuse was a defining part of my story. Those experiences gave me a unique understanding of the barriers many face and fueled my drive to make a difference.
What I Offer
I founded a 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to connecting individuals with vital resources and assistance. Our mission is to bridge gaps in access, ensuring that underserved communities receive the support they need to thrive.
What Sets Me Apart
What sets me apart is my ability to deeply connect with the community through relatability and authenticity. My personal story allows me to empathize with others in a way that fosters trust and understanding. Coupled with innovative approaches and an unwavering commitment to excellence, my goal is to empower others and help them achieve success.
What I’m Most Proud Of
One of my proudest achievements is earning a college degree, defying the odds stacked against me. It’s a testament to resilience, hard work, and the belief that our circumstances don’t define our potential.
What I Want You to Know
No matter how difficult life may seem, never give up. Success often lies just on the other side of the mountain. I’m here to remind you that perseverance and determination can lead to incredible outcomes.
I look forward to the opportunity to connect, collaborate, and support you in achieving your goals. Together, we can create something truly impactful.
We often hear about learning lessons – but just as important is unlearning lessons. Have you ever had to unlearn a lesson?
I have learned the importance of setting boundaries and adhering to my own principles. While my desire to help others remains strong, I’ve come to understand that consistently saying “yes” can lead to being taken advantage of. By prioritizing my values and well-being, I am better equipped to offer meaningful support when it truly matters.
