We recently connected with Troy Anthony and have shared our conversation below.
Troy, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today We’d love to hear about a project that you’ve worked on that’s meant a lot to you.
The most meaningful project I’ve worked on is KnowGalleries, and it was born in the City of Atlanta. Not inside pristine white walls with curated lighting, but in the raw pulse of the city.. brick, concrete, boarded windows, overlooked corners. I was moving through the streets with my camera, studying texture and shadow, and it hit me: the city was already a gallery. The walls were just waiting to be curated. The backstory is authentic, it came from seeing who gets access to traditional art spaces and who doesn’t. I’ve always believed art shouldn’t require permission to be experienced. Creativity doesn’t live in exclusivity. It lives in the everyday, in the now.
KnowGalleries became my response to that realization. Instead of asking for space, I started redefining space. The streets became the exhibition hall. The passerby became the audience. The moment became the masterpiece. It wasn’t about rebellion.. it was about reclamation. About shifting perspective. There were times when resources were limited and the vision felt bigger than the support around it. Moments when I questioned if people would understand what I was building. But every time someone stopped, looked twice, pulled out their phone, or started a conversation.. that was confirmation. The work was connecting. The walls were speaking.
What makes KnowGalleries meaningful to me is that it reflects who I am at my core: a storyteller, an artist.. who sees beauty where others overlook it. It’s freedom from traditional boundaries, freedom to curate life as art, freedom to transform ordinary spaces into sacred creative ground. It’s bigger than photography, bigger than installations. It’s a mindset shift. A living, breathing reminder that you don’t wait for validation or a seat at the table. Sometimes you build the gallery on the sidewalk and let the world walk through it.

Troy, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I’m Troy Anthony, an artist, photographer, and visual storyteller here in the beautiful City of Atlanta. My journey into this craft didn’t start as a business plan. As a Caribbean kid growing up in Boston and later planting roots in Atlanta, my upbringing shaped the way I see the world, through rhythm, color, resilience, and culture, and that perspective lives in every thing I do. I’ve always just been deeply into aesthetics and art. I see the world in layers: light hitting a face at the right angle, texture on a brick wall, emotion sitting quietly behind someone’s eyes. Photography became my language before I even realized I was fluent. What began as capturing moments evolved into curating experiences, building concepts, and ultimately creating platforms like KnowGalleries that challenge how and where art is displayed. I didn’t just get into the industry, I grew into it by studying, culture, environment, and energy.
What I provide goes beyond photos. I create visual narratives. I offer conceptual photography, creative direction, branding visuals, street gallery installations, and curated art experiences. Whether I’m working with an individual, a brand, or the community, the goal is the same: elevate the story. Some people struggle with being seen clearly, their brand lacks identity, their vision lacks cohesion, or their story lacks visual power. That’s the problem I solve. I translate identity into imagery. I help people and brands look like who they truly are, bold, intentional, layered. What sets me apart is that I don’t separate art from meaning. Every project carries thought. Every frame has purpose. Truthfully, I’m building timeless visuals rooted in authenticity and culture.
What I’m most proud of isn’t just the work, it’s the evolution. Building ideas and creating without waiting for permission. I want potential clients, followers, and supporters to know that my brand stands for originality, elevation, and access. I believe art should move people, not just visually, but emotionally. When you work with me, you’re not just booking a shoot or commissioning a piece. You’re stepping into a creative process that’s intentional, collaborative, and transformative.

What can society do to ensure an environment that’s helpful to artists and creatives?
Society can best support artists and creatives by recognizing that creativity isn’t a luxury, it’s essential infrastructure. Art shapes culture, drives innovation, and literally documents the human experience in real time. That means treating artists as vital contributors: fair pay and access to resources, not just applause after the fact. A thriving creative ecosystem starts with space, affordable studios, public art initiatives, grants, and mentorship programs that empower emerging voices. When communities make room for experimentation and collaboration, creativity thrives naturally.
Support also comes through engagement. Support Your Local Artist!!!! Show up to exhibits, share work, commission projects, and teach young people that creative paths are valid careers. Encourage collaboration between brands and independent artists in ways that are equitable. When society moves from consuming art passively to actively investing in it, we don’t just support creatives, we strengthen culture itself. That’s how communities grow, evolve, and leave a legacy worth seeing.

For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?
The reward of creating is knowing your work can outlive you. Like the Pyramids, Michelangelo’s David, the Walls of Benin, Pablo Picasso’s revolutionary paintings, or Tinker Hatfield’s iconic sneaker designs, art carries culture, story, and power across generations. But it’s more than lasting forever it’s about connection. Every photograph I take, every wall I activate, every idea I bring to life is a bridge to someone else’s world, a spark that makes them pause, feel, and reflect. To make something that lives on and still moves people today, that’s why I create.
