We were lucky to catch up with Tresean Sharpe recently and have shared our conversation below.
Tresean, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Can you tell us the backstory behind how you came up with the idea?
I remember the first day I EVER held a video camera was when I was in my second year of college at Allegany College of Maryland, me and my buddy decided to record our schools basketball game. The feeling that I got when I was standing on the corner of the court was indescribable! Seeing the players fly around the court and compete from a different perspective felt amazing and I knew I wanted to have this feel for the rest of my life, So I continued traveling with the basketball team for that season and filming their games which opened the door to new opportunities. I knew if I kept practicing and doing my research that I would eventually get better.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
My name is Tresean Sharpe AKA “Sharpe Eye”. I was born and raised in the DMV Metropolitan area (DC, Maryland, Virginia) in a two parent household with an older sibling. I graduated from Central High School in 2014 and transferred to Allegany College of Maryland honestly not knowing what I wanted to major in. I was stuck between two choices; Computer Science and Multimedia Technology (Mass Communication). I chose to go with Multimedia Technology because it sounded like a load of fun.
Fast-forwarding to my second year of college in 2015, Me and my buddy Derek decided to shoot our schools basketball game, because we both needed the experience. when 7PM came around that evening it was go time! The moment before and After I laid hands on the tool that I had no idea I would fall in love with (a video camera) for the first time ever, I got a feeling that I cant describe…. However….I knew that I had wanted to get that same feeling everyday for the rest of my life and create whatever I had cluttered in my mind, not only for myself but for others.
From there I decided to stick around my schools basketball team to record them home and road games. This opened the door for me to create highlight tapes for various players on the team which gave me the ability to have something to market, which was videography and photography services.
I found myself in array of different projects and I weaned out which ones I liked and the ones I didn’t. I’ve had the opportunity to film music videos, weddings, business promo videos, and even special events all in the same year I got started. I will never forget the day that someone had said a phrase that sticks with me today, that phrase was Dope work “Sharpe Eye”. I immediately, made that my business name which is SharpeEyeProductions.
My company stands on 5 important values: Faith, Trust, Honor, Hard-Work, and Respect. when clients come to me they are coming with one thing in mind, and that is to solve the problem of their product being visible to the world and it is my duty to make sure I solve that problem with 110% of my effort!
By working with me you’ll not only get in return great service but a relationship because I believe in building great working relationships with people because I know how I would want to be treated if I were in my clients shoes.

Is there a particular goal or mission driving your creative journey?
One of the goals that I have is to build a production to where I could help everyone grow and get to the next level. A-lot of times I see companies who have employees with no room to grow and I know I dont want to have an environment where my team doesn’t feel excited to work.
I also want to create a non-profit to where I can teach the kids from middle school and high school about film production and how to operate a camera. Each student who comes through the program will leave with a camera to create whatever vision they have in mind. I just want to plant a seed in good soil of the kids so they feel inspired to do something great!
What’s a lesson you had to unlearn and what’s the backstory?
There’s a few lessons I had to unlearn. However the one lesson I had to unlearn (which was recent) is that I can do it all by myself. The reason I say this is because I had a shoot where it required multiple cameras and I thought that I could handle them all by myself when in reality I ended up missing the most important shot of all! Man when I say I felt terrible I felt horrible! It was feeling I never wanted to feel again.
So the next Gig I got that required multiple cameras I acquired two college students who needed experience and paid them a small fee for the time I needed them and operations went 10 times smoother!
Moral to the story….I NEED TO BUILD A TEAM!
