We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Tracy Paradowski. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Tracy below.
Hi Tracy, thanks for joining us today. Looking back, what’s an important lesson you learned at a prior job?
This took place back in 1998, I was fresh out of college and was looking to get a job in my field of study. I came across an ad in the newspaper ( back in the day you scoured the “want ads in the paper) for a receptionist/graphic designer at Santoro Signs, Inc . here in my area so I took a chance and drove down there to apply ( back then there was no internet). A few days later they called me in for an interview. They were a company that designed corporate signage for buildings and wrapped vehicles in vinyl signage. I got the job, but knew nothing about the design program they were using. Talk about being thrown into the fire. Luckily, their Senior Graphic Designer was a very good teacher and taught me not only how to use their design program but to excel at it. I soon left there after giving birth to my oldest son but I am forever grateful to them for giving me the foundation to start my own business.

Tracy, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I’m Tracy Paradowski, founder and CEO of Clever Girl Design Studio, a boutique branding and graphic design firm focused on helping business owners build brands that are strategic, confident, and built to last.
My path into design began decades ago, long before branding became a trend. What started as a natural love for art, layout, and visual storytelling grew into a lifelong career rooted in craftsmanship, problem-solving, and business strategy. With over 40 years of hands-on creative experience, I’ve seen the industry evolve—and that perspective allows me to guide clients with clarity, intention, and confidence.
At Clever Girl Design Studio, I specialize in custom logo design, brand identity systems, and foundational brand assets for startups and established businesses. I work with business owners who know their brand matters but feel overwhelmed, inconsistent, or unsure how to present themselves professionally. My work goes far beyond aesthetics. I help clients define their message, elevate their presence, and create a brand foundation that supports real growth.
What sets me apart is my belief that branding should feel empowering, not intimidating. I bring a calm, strategic approach to a process that many business owners find stressful, translating complex ideas into clear, refined visual systems. Every project is collaborative, intentional, and designed to provide long-term value—never quick fixes or one-size-fits-all solutions.
I’m most proud of the trust I’ve built with my clients and the role my work plays in helping small businesses take themselves seriously—and be taken seriously by others. Whether I’m creating a fully bespoke brand identity or a streamlined brand starter package, my goal is always the same: to give business owners a strong, professional foundation they can grow with confidence.
At the core of my work is a simple truth: your logo isn’t the problem—your brand foundation is. I help business owners solve that problem so they can move from uncertainty to clarity and stand out with purpose.

How’d you build such a strong reputation within your market?
My reputation grew because I focus on solving real business problems, not just designing pretty visuals. I take the time to understand my clients, educate them through the process, and create work that positions them with confidence. That trust has led to long-term relationships and consistent referrals.

Can you tell us about a time you’ve had to pivot?
Back in 1999 when my oldest son was born he was born with special needs, he was diagnosed when he was 3 years old with Autism. This meant that one parent needed to stay home so he could receive all the therapy he needed. I decided that parent would be me, but over time felt like I was not contributing to the household finances and after a talk with my husband we decided to get our first computer and I would start my own business here at home. I worked nights on my business after my kids ( I now have a 3 year old and a newborn) went to bed. So even though my business started in 2000 I have only been online since 2008. I have never looked back.
