Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Tracy D. Harrison. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Tracy D., thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. What’s the backstory behind how you came up with the idea for your business?
One night, I had a dream that was unlike any other. I found myself in my current home, only to discover a whale in my yard, its face at my doorstep. Puzzled by this surreal scene, I stepped outside to investigate. Suddenly, the whale swallowed me whole.
Inside the belly of the whale, I realized it wasn’t trying to harm me, but rather, it was holding me captive. Through its gills, I could see the world outside with every breath it took. It was the strangest experience. I watched the sun rise and set over the course of two days. All the while, I sat there, planning my escape.
On the third day, I seized the opportunity to make my move. I slid out successfully and ran back into the house to grab my machete. Returning to the whale, I began to chop at it. The whale cried huge tears, and I paused. Dropping the machete, I started to console the whale. To my astonishment, I watched as each injury I had inflicted began to heal before my eyes, from the deepest wounds to the surface cuts. It was one of the most miraculous things I had ever witnessed.
When I woke up the next morning, I felt different. The dream had delivered a powerful message. It confirmed that it was time for me to break my silence and speak out about my molestation and childhood abuse. I had been given a task, and I had been running from it. But now, it was time to face my deepest secrets and traumas.
I created a non-profit and became an author in hopes that my story would inspire others to break free from their silence as well. KEEP YOUR HANDS OFF ME, INC. nonprofit 501(c)3 is dedicated to raising awareness of the ongoing crisis of sexual trauma while creating a safe space for adult survivors to heal. Also, Finding Resiliency in the Midst of Trauma is a workbook designed to assist you in working through your trauma from childhood sexual abuse in your adult life which is currently available on Amazon.

Tracy D., love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?

Can you tell us about a time you’ve had to pivot?
I remember having to press the reset button in my life because everything seemed to be falling apart but turns out it was all falling together. I had been traumatized for so long I didn’t know what joy and togetherness looked like.

Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?
Despite all the childhood trauma I had suffered I still had a little voice that kept telling me to keep going. It was many times I want to give up. My truth was bigger and greater than any lie anyone could tell on me. I wore shame, blame and disfunction as a badge of honor because it was all I’d known. I started listening to Les Brown and Lisa Nichols. It opened a door in my heart. Then I advanced to Neville Goddard, Napoleon Hill and Rhonda Byrne. It was a lot to take in, but it elevated my mind and changed my life. There was no way I could go back to being the closeminded country girl. My mindset changed and I now say to myself every day, “if you look back, you’ll turn into a pillar of salt”.
