We recently connected with Traci Dalrymple and have shared our conversation below.
Traci, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today We’d love to go back in time and hear the story of how you came up with the name of your brand?
I lived in Japan for 5 years from 2000 to 2005. On my return in 2005, I spent a month in Bali where I thought I would start an aromatherapy business. While I was there, I had an experience in Ubud. A small place, called Petulu, had white herons that would flock to trees every night around 6pm. They were considered sacred, eternal spirits and were called Kokokans. Hence, the name Kokokahn, with a slight variation in spelling, was born.
Traci, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I lived in Japan from 2000-2005. During that time I met a friend from Australia that introduced me to essential oils. I fell in love! It was a self study for me during my time in Japan and when I returned I was hungry for more education. I got my Aromatherapy certification in the chemistry of the oils and felt I had a solid foundation to work with. One of the things I wanted to do when I returned was help people and find a career that I enjoyed and found passion in. So, after 4 years of honing my business skills as a Spa Director, I launched Kokokahn in 2009. I’m most proud of creating a business that is sustainable and helps people naturally. It truly gives me great joy. Every essential oil blend and aromatherapy product that I formulate is formulated with a lot of love, thought and intention for the greater good of all living beings.
We offer over 150 essential oils and aromatherapy products all handcrafted in small batches at our shop in North Port, Florida. All of the essential oils we import direct from farmers are GC/MS tested to ensure therapeutic quality and purity.
How do you keep in touch with clients and foster brand loyalty?
Constant contact is definitely key in staying at the forefront of our customers minds. Our main way to stay in touch with customers is via email. We send a Mindful Monday email every Monday that our customers love. We also include a lot of education in our emails. Videos are a fun way to connect and create brand loyalty with our customers while also teaching them how to use essential oils. We strive to always take care of customers with an open heart and loving kindness. When a challenge arises with them concerning a product or order, we do our best to exceed their expectations in resolving it quickly. This too, helps create brand loyalty.
How did you build your audience on social media?
Social media is a marathon for sure. My advice is to be consistent with your posts and create relevant material that engages your customers instead of selling to them. We recently did a holiday post that was about creating your Elf name. You chose a phrase based on the first letter of your name and the second part of the phrase came from your birth month. It was a lot of fun and engaged a lot of customers.
