We recently connected with Tony Inserra and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Tony thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. So, naming is such a challenge. How did you come up with the name of your brand?
Lusso is the Italian word for Luxury, and when putting together ideas for my business I knew I wanted to work on high end Exotic vehicles as well as European considering my automotive training and experience. I was bouncing ideas off of all my colleagues, friends, and family. One day when brainstorming with my family, my mother paused and asked me a question. She asked “So you’re going to work on luxury cars right? Call it Lusso!” I am 100% Italian, my family came to the US and worked hard to build a life for us. Full credit goes to my mother for coming up with the name of my business.
Tony , before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
A little about me: My name is Tony, and I have been working on vehicles professionally for 18 years. I began my automotive journey with Volkswagen, then working my way up through Audi, Aston Martin, Ferrari/Maserati, and Luxury pre-owned for Scottsdale Ferrari. I worked for Penske Automotive Group for 15 years, while the remaining time I spent working for Independant local shops. Seeing how my career progressed and the positions and skills I was achieving gave me the confidence to move forward with opening up my own automotive shop.
What sets Lusso Motorsports apart from others:
One of the things that was important to me opening up Lusso Motorsports was I wanted to offer dealership level experience without the high costs, while providing a more personal experience.
What I am most proud of:
One of the things I am most proud of with my business is the value we’ve been able to provide our clients. One of the tough stereotypes that has had truth to it in our industry, is dishonesty with repairs. I take pride in having systems in place that keep our clients up to date on the progress of their vehicles, offering consistent communication and photo documentation. With this continued effort in being transparent we’ve been able to build a client base that knows they can trust us.
I am also extremely proud of my team. With all of us working together on common goals, we have been able to continue to grow and offer value to our clients.
We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.
As with most business owners during the Covid shut downs, we faced an issue that required us to pivot in what we were doing and how we could reach people safely. During that time, I knew something had to change in order to overcome that difficult time. I made the decision to expand my business indirectly, I partnered with a very skilled young man named Brandon Zukowski and together we opened Wrap Vault of Scottsdale. I restructured our shop space to now offer our clients full Paint Protection Films, Tint, and Vinyl Wraps.
Now with two businesses under one roof, we began to see more traffic helping us stabilize during a very tough time. This pivot provided us the ability to grow even more, to the point I began to receive more requests from clients about detailing services for their vehicles. Continuing with that idea of growth and value I brought in an extremely skilled detailer named Jeff Sheppard, the owner of Upscale Detailz. Lusso Motorsports now has the ability to be a convenient one stop shop facility for all your vehicles needs.
What’s been the best source of new clients for you?
The best source of new clients for us has been “word of mouth”. Due to the nature of our business and the vehicles we service, there is a high level of trust required in order to grow. In the beginning I invested in multiple avenues to source new clients, but the one thing that has been consistent is customer referrals. Realizing this, I decided to try and expand on that and understand what was happening. I began to ask for customer feedback on our services and their experiences with us. I personally reached out to ask clients if they could change anything about their experience, what would it be? I then took all this information and adjusted processes so that we could adapted to what would work for the majority of our current clients. It has been the greatest investment I have made and the foundation of what Lusso now stands on.
