We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Tony Baxter a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Tony thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. What’s the backstory behind how you came up with the idea for your business?
Timing and circumstances purely led me forward. Happenstance led me to the opportunity to design, build, and pilot a small commercial electrolytic refinery which I’m currently in the midst of, as I type this. The proof of concept, a miniature 4 gallon vessel representing my research into Moebius Electrolysis Cells, works well enough such that I’m now building a much larger 20gal vessel to support throughput needs.
I was given the opportunity to solve this problem for another business in my community which is important to me because it’s a vital part of the supply chain, and one that is very helpful. The end product from my processes- 99.999% electrolytically refined silver further processed into 10ozt bars are not just stores of value, but also of a quality that meets stringent semi-conductor manufacturing standards.
And this is in addition to all of the other metalsmith work that I do.
2026 is all about growth, opportunity, and creation for me.

Tony, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I started out my early career working in roles that focused or various aspect of metallurgy at an industrial scale.
Along the way I picked up metalsmithing in the creative sense and started making wearables with a focus on traditional methods. Which has evolved and continues to evolve today. Although nowadays, I am more driven to solving problems the community faces versus creating problems for myself to solve on the bench.
I am most proud of what I’ve been slowly building and learning in the background- using the skills that I’ve gained over the years to learn how to wear all these different hats at any one time. And in a way that produces meaningful results for real people and not just my own internal dopamine check.

We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.
Check out what I’m doing over here- and know this: I’ve been homeless, I’ve slept in my car, slept on the floor hungry, I’ve consciously not eaten so that I would have the gas money to continue this – For. Just. One. More. Day.

Can you open up about how you funded your business?
Borrowed, traded/sold equipment, and scrapped approx. 1000 hours worth of art/precious metals labor/work that I completed over the years.
