We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Tonoa Manuel. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Tonoa below.
Alright, Tonoa thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. What was it like going from idea to execution? Can you share some of the backstory and some of the major steps or milestones?
The journey from having an idea in your mind to seeing it come to life on paper, and then executing it step by step, is both challenging and transformative. Let me walk you through how I went from making no money and having only a vague understanding of what I wanted to do, to launching a business with a clear plan.It all started with an idea, one that had been simmering in the back of my mind for some time. I knew I wanted to create something impactful, something that aligned with my passions and values, but the path forward was unclear. I had no concrete plan, just a deep desire to build something meaningful.
The first step was getting that idea out of my head and onto paper. This was a pivotal moment because it transformed my abstract thoughts into something tangible. I started by writing down everything I envisioned—no matter how big or small. This exercise was about clarity, getting all the pieces in front of me so I could begin to see the picture more clearly. With the idea on paper, the next challenge was to break it down into actionable steps. This was daunting at first, but I knew I had to take it one step at a time. The first few days were all about research. I had to figure out what I didn’t know, look into the market, understand the needs of potential clients, and identify the gaps my business could fill. I also had to explore what was required to actually start a business—everything from legalities to branding.
Once the research phase was underway, I moved into planning. This was where I started setting goals and timelines. What could I achieve in the next month? What resources would I need? I knew that having a plan was essential, but I also had to be flexible enough to adapt as I learned more. The process wasn’t easy. There were days, hours, and even months where progress felt slow, and uncertainty was a constant companion. But with each small step, I began to build momentum. I invested time in learning new skills, sought advice from mentors, and gradually built the infrastructure my business needed. As I continued to develop the plan and take actionable steps, something incredible happened—I started to connect more deeply with my vision. It wasn’t just about launching a business anymore; it was about aligning with my purpose and values. This alignment was critical because it fueled my drive and kept me focused, even when challenges arose.
Launching the business was the culmination of all this work, but it was also just the beginning. By prioritizing personal growth and staying true to the values that SIYG Consulting Firm embodies, I was able to create a business that not only succeeded but also resonated deeply with my clients. Each step of the way, from idea to execution, was a lesson in persistence, clarity, and alignment. In the end, the process was about more than just building a business—it was about becoming a better version of myself. By taking it one step at a time, staying focused on the plan, and constantly connecting back to my core values, I was able to turn an idea into a reality. And that’s how I launched my business—by starting with an idea, transforming it into a plan, and executing it with purpose and integrity.

Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?
One of the most defining moments in my journey came when my husband sat me down and told me that we could no longer continue funding the business without a clear plan. At that moment, hearing “no” felt like a door was closing on my dream, and it was incredibly difficult to process. But that “no” turned out to be one of the greatest gifts I could have received. It pushed me to stop relying on vague ideas and forced me to get serious about my vision. I realized that I needed to create a concrete plan, not just for the sake of securing funding, but to truly understand where I was going and how I was going to get there. That “no” motivated me to carve out a space where I could sit down and write out my direction, goals, and strategy in detail. It was through this process that I began to see the path forward clearly, and it gave me the confidence and focus I needed to move forward with purpose.
Looking back, that moment was a turning point in my life. It wasn’t just about creating a business plan; it was about stepping into my greatness. My husband’s tough love was exactly what I needed to push me out of my comfort zone and into a space where I could truly thrive. That “no” changed my life forever, and it’s a reminder that sometimes the hardest moments are the ones that lead to our greatest growth.

How’d you build such a strong reputation within your market?
What has truly helped me build my reputation within the market is my commitment to cultivating relationships through authenticity, alignment, vulnerability, and integrity. From the very beginning, I knew that success wasn’t just about delivering a great product or service—it was about creating a trustworthy space where clients could feel seen, heard, and supported. I focused on being genuine in every interaction, aligning my actions with my values, and being open and transparent about the journey—both the successes and the challenges. This approach not only allowed me to build deep, meaningful connections with my clients but also established a strong foundation of trust.
By consistently showing up with integrity and creating an environment where people felt safe to explore their potential, I was able to foster a community that valued the same principles. It’s this dedication to building authentic relationships and maintaining a high standard of integrity that has truly set me apart and helped me build a strong, reputable presence in the market.
