We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Tj The Dj. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Tj below.
Tj, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Can you talk to us about how you learned to do what you do?
Whether it’s being a business owner, a DJ, being a content creator or anything I put my mind to do, it all starts with having the passion.
Also, an essential skill, when doing anything, is doing your research! We can never learn enough about the things we are passionate in. The only obstacle in your way is yourself!

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
My name is TJ the DJ. I’m a Professional DJ, a content creator, music producer, a big & tall model and much more. I was born and raised in northeast Baltimore, Maryland.
As early as I can remember, I’ve always been into creativity. I guess growing up in the late 80s, early 90s, that was the norm. But, one form of creativity always stood out the most; Music!
So, I went from being a listener, to creating my own music, then, into becoming a DJ. The DJ portion of any radio show was always my favorite, so, I knew I wanted to be one!
I started out by being a bedroom DJ for a year, while actually tagging along with my active DJ friends. Then, after I got all my own gear, I went into booking my own gigs. I got confident and decided to start my own entertainment company, An ACE Production, LLC.
Starting a business built my confidence up to the point I came out of my shell and started to show my personality through creating videos via social media. I started to embrace myself, so, I applied and landed some features as a male model, as well. To put it all in perspective, I learned that you can be what you want to be!

Is there something you think non-creatives will struggle to understand about your journey as a creative?
Something a non-creative will not pick up from just engaging with my content, is that I fund everything. For instance, with my foodie vlogs, 9 times out of 10, I pay for the meal and suffer from ‘the ITIS’ after I’m done shooting. Even if a food vendor offers free items, I’m not in it to get free food. I’m there to show support or give an honest critique.
Also, everyone is not built to record themselves in a very public setting and proceed to act as if there is no one else there. That’s a special skill that I have that not everyone else has.

How did you build your audience on social media?
Truth be told, I am grateful to have an audience and supporters. But, in all actuality, the most important audience member to me, is me! If I’m not excited to create the content, edit it and share it with you, what am I doing?!
You have to engage with your audience or other creators who have an audience similar to yours. That’s the only way you will figure out your next move! You gotta know what the people want to stay on your game!
