We were lucky to catch up with Tim & Brianna Kleinmeier recently and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Tim & Brianna thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Owning a business isn’t always glamorous and so most business owners we’ve connected with have shared that on tough days they sometimes wonder what it would have been like to have just had a regular job instead of all the responsibility of running a business. Have you ever felt that way?
Long story short, we both LOVE being business owners!
Now for the longer story told from Brianna.
I can recall a time in both high school and college I said “I could never be an entrepreneur”. The thought was a little terrifying at the time. Why? Because I started working at a very young age; for someone. Which turned into job after job, and I never saw a life outside of working with a group of people all focused on the same end goal. I didn’t really have a passion that I saw growing into a business either. Fast-forward a couple of years into what I thought would have been my career, I was learning daily the “regular job” wasn’t fitting. I was working crazy long hours and didn’t have much of a personal life outside of work. It was draining, and for what, to continue in the same cycle trying to work my way up the ladder to continue to work crazy hours for something that wasn’t fulfilling in my life.
Fast forward again, we saw a need where we lived and started putting the proper pieces in place to create the business we have today. It has been a roller-coaster ride, but it has shown me my true potential and that the stigma I put on myself growing up was silly. Now, I get to tell people that ask me what I do for a living, “I own my own business, Sky High Perspective” and you better believe I am truly proud when telling people what I do.
There’s a quote that goes “I didn’t want a 9-5 job, now I work 24/7” and it stands so true! I laugh thinking back to the “crazy long” hours I was working in my career, because I feel I somehow doubled that since starting this business. I wouldn’t trade it for anything though. The freedom and creativity I have owning my own business is the most rewarding thing I’ve ever felt. To see something I created from the ground up flourishing and to be something I could truly do for the rest of my life, truly amazing.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
Sky High Perspective is a family-owned and operated media production company. We specialize in Photography, Videography and Aerial Media! We are a husband-and-wife team focused on providing you the absolute best experience in creating your brand. Furthermore, we cover interior/exterior photos of homes and businesses, aerial stills or aerial video work, floor plans, FPV (First Person View) videos, brand videos to full cinematic walk-through videos.
We started this business 5 years ago and the initial push into this field started with drones. Drone racing was a big hobby for Tim for a few years around Dallas before we moved back to the Canton, TX area. From the knowledge Tim had with drones and flying, and from the interest we both had in High School taking pictures for fun, we were able to push into this industry and provide a service our town was missing.
We don’t hide the fact we are a small business and very family-oriented! When you contact us, you know who you will be working with every step of the way. We have the utmost respect for our clients in both their professional and personal walk. We hope everyone has their own version of “what sets us apart” on why they continue to use us, but for us, we hope our passion and talent speaks volumes.
What do you think helped you build your reputation within your market?
The connection you have with someone means everything! We both value relationships heavily. We have strived every year to get better at our craft and what we provide our clients. While we do provide our services anywhere; we live in a smaller town, so we have made it a point to show up and be present in our community. This allows us to see our clients outside of “work” and further our personal relationships with them. When learning more about our clients it allows us to tailor each project to them more. We learn the things they value, and we strive to emphasize that through our projects for them.
What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
Seeing the work we’ve created circulating in magazines, websites and social media is extremely rewarding! Capturing a moment in time that can be cherished forever is priceless. Even just the “Thank you” we get from our clients, homeowners, and our town from the moments we’ve captured is extremely rewarding.
