We were lucky to catch up with Tiffany Jones recently and have shared our conversation below.
Tiffany, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. If you had a defining moment that you feel really changed the trajectory of your career, we’d love to hear the story and details.
The most defining moment in my professional career was when I implemented Divine Healing LLC. Building Divine Healing from the ground up with a solid foundation of strong principles, values, and a mission that correlates with restorative justice is when the trajectory of my career shifted. As a Restorative Justice advocate, I have always believed in supporting and healing individuals from within to ensure that the root of their pains, traumas, and problems are identified and properly addressed. I have always sought justice as I formally worked in the Legal Education field. However, it was not until my realization of the lack of restorative justice that influenced my interest in serving individuals and my community in a different and more personal capacity. Being a mental health survivor myself and experiencing traumas and pains as a child, I grew to understand the importance of mental health and the services our society needs. My love and passion for Mindfulness grew over ten years ago after I learned the power of living a mindful lifestyle and how it brings joy and healing. My testimony, perseverance, and consistency influenced the origination of Divine Healing. The trajectory of my career changed when I was able to live up to my testimony and educate individuals on a path, I know is effective and provides not only healing but sound mental health. I went from saying “I wish things didn’t have to be this way.” to “This is what I’m going to do to make a change.” Talk about the power of positive reframing and affirmations! My career changed for the better as I know the services provided at Divine Healing can exude positivity and influence a solid foundation in our communities.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
My name is Tiffany Jones, a Mental Health survivor, and a Restorative Justice advocate. As a Master of Social Work degree holder and a certified Mindfulness Practitioner with over ten years of Mindfulness experience and over five years of Case Management experience, my mission is to help individuals thrive through holistic approaches. Divine Healing is a consulting agency that specializes in Mindfulness practices, Case Management, and Self-care services. We separate from others through our solution-driven services to individuals of all ages and backgrounds by implementing S.M.A.R.T. goals through Mindfulness Therapy and Meditation, Case Management referral services, and Aromatherapy offerings of our Hand-poured Soy Candles and CBD Shea Butter Relief Cream. Through a restorative, innovative, and ground-breaking structure, we aim to identify and implement evidence-based mental health approaches to mitigate stressors and mental illnesses while breaking generational dysfunctions and promoting education, personal development, and functionality through Mindfulness services. We have a keen interest in working with adolescents and elderly individuals, but our mission is to help all individuals live more mindfully to promote a global effect. Through our initiatives, we have served over 300 clients and given back to our youth community through our Scholarship Fund in remembrance of my grandmother, Community Leader and Entrepreneur Fannie B. McNeill, and by offering reduced Therapy, and free Case Management Services.
How about pivoting – can you share the story of a time you’ve had to pivot?
I have always been an advocate for justice, which influenced me to obtain my Bachelor’s Degree in Criminology, Law, and Society, and a Minor in Psychology. Specifically, I wanted to understand more about the human mind and behavior. I have always been fascinated by the “why” and “how” behaviors and actions are influenced. Learning the science behind Human Behavior and the extensive support needed to overcome different life circumstances and promote self-investment influenced my interest in restorative services. I wholeheartedly chose not to seek justice through the criminal justice system and instead through a restorative social work approach. From a personal perspective, I noticed the lack of support and services needed in the community to ensure healthy relationships, respect, and repairment. This specific realization influenced me to pivot professionally to ensure my personal values and morals align with my professional career. I chose to pivot to ensure that I lead by example in all that I do. I later decided to pursue my Master of Social Work to “treat the wound rather than putting on a band-aid” and have never wavered since then.
Let’s talk about resilience next – do you have a story you can share with us?
The trials and tribulations I endured as a little girl all the way up to adulthood, is a testament to my resilience. I was raised by my grandmother, with the support of my father. As a child, I had a stigma and negative assumptions tied to me due to my mother’s past actions, which affected my mental health. With the solid and spiritual foundation that my grandmother provided, I coped with my pain and trauma, but I still struggled in some ways. Despite my challenges, I continued to thrive through strength and perseverance. It was my family foundation, confidence, self-love, and strength that influenced me to remain resilient throughout my life journey. I fought tirelessly for a journey I deserve, which has been accomplished by me staying present. The challenges I faced are what influenced my desire to learn about Mindfulness, and I have yearned for it consistently since then!
