We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Tierney Shirrell a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Tierney, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Risking taking is a huge part of most people’s story but too often society overlooks those risks and only focuses on where you are today. Can you talk to us about a risk you’ve taken – it could be a big risk or a small one – but walk us through the backstory.
One of the biggest risks I’ve taken was to shift directions and host a Christian personal development conference. In the beginning of my entrepreneurial journey, I was deeply invested in personal growth masterminds, events, and coaching spaces, but something felt off in my spirit. I couldn’t ignore the growing conviction that so much of the industry was centered on self as the source, leaving God out entirely. What had once felt empowering now felt misaligned.
I wrestled with it, because the realignment meant risking momentum, income, credibility, and relationships I had built in those spaces. It didn’t make logical sense to pivot, but I knew obedience was the greater call.
So I chose to invest wholeheartedly into my spiritual growth in a deeper way. I pursued coaching, mentorship, and community rooted in Christ, not self-development. And then, before I had grown a large audience, before I had a built-out business, or even established community, I took what felt like an even bigger risk: I said “yes” to hosting my first conference.
There was no proven audience to fill the room. No guarantee it would succeed. No safety net of a large platform. From a traditional business perspective, it didn’t add up. I had never even spoken on a stage! I hadn’t launched the podcast, written the book, or built the following or established the influence that I believed was required to support such an undertaking. But I knew what God had placed on my heart, and I trusted Him more than I trusted the metrics.
That decision stretched me in every way – financially, emotionally, and spiritually – it required a new level of obedience and faith. And it changed everything!
Not only did that step unlock deeper clarity and alignment in my own life, but it became the foundation for everything I’ve built since. It gave life to the vision I now carry – equipping women to become who they were created to be and lead as the Kingdom CEO – Called, Empowered, Obedient – guided by God rather than striving, strategy, and self.
Looking back, the real risk wasn’t hosting the conference. The real risk was staying where I was and NOT stepping faithfully into the call to do it differently.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
I’m a multi-passionate creative, speaker, faith-fueled entrepreneur, and the founder of the Live BOLD Movement, My story is one of going from broken to bold, and now I help women become the Kingdom CEO [Called-Empowered-Obedient] God created them to be! At the core of my life and brand is the foundation of Faith, built on the “7 F”pillars of Family, Freedom, Finances, FARM-aceuticals, Fitness, Food, and Fun!
My journey into this work wasn’t something I planned, but something I was called into through deep personal transformation. Like many high-performing women, I entered the entrepreneurial and personal development space hungry for growth, freedom, and impact. I had navigated a mental health journey of severe postpartum depression, suicidal ideation, and a diagnosis of bipolar II disorder to complete healing in Jesus’ Name! What the enemy tried to use to silence me – fear, shame, and isolation – God has turned into a calling to build BOLD Kingdom leaders! “For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.” (2 Timothy 1:7).
That’s how the Kingdom CEO Community was born. I experienced profound healing, identity transformation, and restoration, so my work is about building lives that are aligned in body, soul, and spirit, platforms that point people to Jesus, and businesses that glorify God. Today, I serve faith-driven, high-performing women through a range of experiences designed to support their spiritual alignment, leadership, personal growth, and Kingdom business – to Build the Vision as BOLD as Your Faith™️
There are several ways I equip and walk alongside women in that journey:
Through 1:1 Kingdom CEO Coaching, I offer personalized, high-touch mentorship for women to own their story, step fully into their calling, lead with God-confidence, and build with both courage AND surrender.
Inside the Kingdom CEO Community, we’ve created a sisterhood for true collaboration without competition – a sacred space where leaders, visionaries, and entrepreneurs grow together as Called, Empowered, Obedient Daughters of the King.
I also host the annual Live BOLD Experience, an event that’s so much more than a conference – it’s a catalytic Holy Spirit encounter for breakthrough and transformation. We blend personal growth conference, spiritual development retreat, business strategy, praise and worship party, and Holy Spirit encounter to create a life-altering experience.
As a speaker, I bring a bold, Spirit-led message to stages and communities, combining Truth, vulnerability, and activation, whether through my signature keynote or customized messages.
I’m also a 2X #1 International Best-Selling author of The JoyFull Entrepreneur and host of The Live BOLD Movement Podcast, where I share Biblical insight, practical wisdom, and real-life lessons with humor and fun to help women grow in faith, leadership, and business.
In addition, I’m passionate about wellness and partner with other purpose-driven leaders in the biohacking and longevity space – because I believe we’re called not just to survive, but to thrive in body, soul, and spirit.
What sets my work apart is that it’s not rooted in hustle, pressure, or performance. Watching women go from stuck, overwhelmed, and disconnected… to fully aligned, energized, and boldly obedient – that’s everything. I don’t teach women how to strive harder – I guide them back to identity in Jesus, alignment with their assignment, and wholeness to live boldly as Kingdom CEOs [Called•Empowered•Obedient]. From that place, everything they build flows with greater clarity, peace, and purpose.
What’s a lesson you had to unlearn and what’s the backstory?
The biggest lesson I had to unlearn? That I needed clarity before I could move. I wasted so much time and energy waiting for the step-by-step plan, wanting the know the “how” and waiting for the full picture – and what I’ve learned, lived, and now teach is this – “ready” is not a feeling, it’s a decision.
The backstory? I launched a podcast with no production experience, no audience, and no idea what I was doing. I hosted a conference with no event planning expertise, no speaking background, and honestly, no business doing it on paper. By every measurable standard, I was completely and totally unqualified. And those two things changed my life and the lives of the women I’m called to serve.
Here’s what I discovered on the other side – you don’t get clarity first. Clarity comes with action. And action creates momentum. The moment I stopped waiting for the full plan to unfold and started moving on what God had already shown me, everything shifted. Doors opened. Strategy emerged. Confirmation came, but only after I moved in obedience.
That’s not a motivational concept, that’s a Biblical one. Scripture is filled with the language of momentum – pressing on, running the race, Spirit-led advancement. Hebrews 12:1 says, “Let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us.” It doesn’t say wait until you can see the finish line – it says run! Kingdom momentum is simply obedience in motion. God doesn’t need you to have it all figured out. He needs you willing to move. So if you’ve been waiting for clarity – that’s the unlearning. Ready is a decision. Take the step. God will meet you in the motion.
Have any books or other resources had a big impact on you?
The only book I return to every single time is the Bible – not just for spiritual nourishment, but for leadership strategy, business clarity, and identity anchoring. Every framework I teach, every principle I lead with, flows directly from Scripture. That’s how Kingdom CEO framework was developed – Called, Empowered, Obedient – because those three words are the blueprint God gives us for building anything that lasts.
C: Called – Release the lies, and own your story! You’ve been chosen by God for a specific Kingdom assignment. Ephesians 4:1 says, “I urge you to live a life worthy of the calling you have received” This taught me that my story, my mess, my past – none of it disqualifies me. But before I could build anything, I had to let go of beliefs about who I was that didn’t line up with God’s Truth. When you stand secure in your identity as His DAUGHTER, you can lead boldly as a QUEEN in His Kingdom.
E: Empowered – Release the fear, and unleash Heaven’s power! You don’t lead in your own strength – you’re empowered by the Holy Spirit. 2 Timothy 1:7 says, “God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.” That means every time I shrunk back from a bold move or waited the feel ready, I was partnering with fear. When you understand the power you carry, you can lead with authority – not for status, but for service and IMPACT!
O: Obedient – Release the control, and build with confidence! Your greatest strategy is surrender. Deuteronomy 5:33 says, “Walk in obedience to all that the Lord your God has commanded you, so that you may live and prosper.” Letting go of perfectionism, and releasing your timeline – that’s not weakness, that’s the most powerful position you can take because the outcome God’s responsibility – yours is obedient action. When you surrender control, you can steward God’s vision with BOLDNESS!
If you want a resource that will transform not just how you do business and leadership, but why – start with the Bible. It’s the most complete life manual ever written.
