We recently connected with Terrell Gaskin and have shared our conversation below.
Terrell, appreciate you joining us today. Before we get into specifics, let’s talk about success more generally. What do you think it takes to be successful?
When I first started in business, I would have told you that in order to be successful you needed to put in hrs of hard work, long days etc. Now that I have been in the business all that means nothing with out a great team to back you. at the end of the day you can do everything yourself. You have be able to delegate task out to the team to have you stressed out and over whelmed. So definitely the best I would give to be successful is to build a great team.
Terrell, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
For those who have not had the pleasure of meeting me I’m Chef Terrell Gaskin or I should say as of 2019 Celebrity Chef Terrell Gaskin, owner of Royalty Dining, LLC. Just a little bit about me I’m from Brooklyn NY, and live in Georgia. I’ve been a chef for 18 years now, I went to and graduated from Le Cordon Bleu. I’ve been on Food Network tv show The Great Food Truck Race Season 10 where I was on the team with Chef Darrell Johnson, and Anna Johnson of NOLA Creation. Where we competed against 9 other teams through 8 cites and we took the win. In 2020 decided to do another season of The Food Truck Race in San Francisco with NOLA Creation. To speak more on Royalty Dining it is an eclectic personal/ private chef company that caters to the client that is looking to have a culinary experience. Royalty Dining creates a memorable dining artistry in your home or venue for to you to remember for years to come. When clients come to us we help them from start to finish for their special moments like anniversaries, birthdays, or a just because. We create eclectic menus from different cultures and cuisines from scratch with the freshest of ingredients from local farms. I know I know why would I create such a company, well let me tell you. Growing up my parents raised me to try so many different cuisines, so my love for food started when I was young. So when I created Royalty Dining that’s what I wanted to share with our future clients. Since we started in 2019 we have been successful in doin just that. How did you put together the initial capital you needed to start your business?
When I first started my business I had used the money I had in savings. Once I was done with the first show I had already wrote out my first business budget, and what was projected to make per month as long as thing went according to plans. Lucky enough I’m pretty good at budgeting lol! But there was definitely some good months, great months and some months where I’m happy for the great months in business. I would suggest that you have a financial plan, and good budgeting skills.
What do you think helped you build your reputation within your market?
The biggest thing that has helped with reputation is just sticking to my mission statement. And thats creating an eclectic culinary experience for you to remember for years to come. When I arrive at a clients home I treat it with respect at all times I leave there home better than how arrived.
