Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Teri Blais. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Teri, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today What did your parents do right and how has that impacted you in your life and career?
While growing up in Titusville, Florida, my parents owned a marina business for over 25 years. My parents instilled an entrepreneurial spirit in their children where our whole family participated in helping with the daily activities in the business. I watched my parents become successful while working hard and developing long lasting relationships with the local community throughout their lives. During their ownership of Nelson’s Harbour Marina, my mom invited many of the yacht owners who were away from their families to our holiday gatherings. My mom would prepare elaborate and delicious meals for holiday parties at our home, which would include in excess of 30-40 people. Before the holiday dinners, I would help my mom prepare the dinner, set the tables and bake homemade cherry pies for dessert. During these special moments, I developed a love of tasty, homemade pies while baking pies with my mom. My mom taught me many delicious pie recipes as well as the importance of family celebrations and holiday traditions.

Teri, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
After many years of encouragement from friends and neighbors, Teri decided to share her love of baking pies in March of 2020. During that time when most people were homebound, Teri used the time to develop new recipes and develop the Winter Park Pie Company website at www.winterparkpie.com along with her social media sources.
Teri started Winter Park Pie Company in her home with a cottage kitchen license making fruit and nut pies. She has now moved into a commercial kitchen and has expanded the menu to include Coconut Cream Pie, Banana Cream Pie, Key Lime Pie, Lemon Meringue Pie, savory Chicken Pot Pie, and beautifully decorated cakes. Customers order on the website, and she delivers locally or meets them for pickup. Teri takes great pride in crafting each pie by hand, starting with rolling homemade flaky pie dough, adding fresh and flavorful ingredients consisting of cherries, raspberries, blueberries, apples, and pecans, then baking them slowly until they are golden brown.
Teri has had many challenges along her journey. She started Winter Park Pie Company in her home as a cottage kitchen where she was only allowed to make fresh fruit and nut pies. Teri had to turn down many calls for cream pies that were not permitted under her cottage kitchen license. She solved the problem by finding a commercial kitchen where she became licensed to make cream and savory pies.
Other challenges she encountered included learning how to develop a website, taking attractive pictures of her products, and integrating the website on Facebook and Instagram. It has been a time struggle for Teri to manage a small business while baking pies and cakes and making deliveries.
Winter Park Pie Company has recently been recognized as a top local bakery winning the “Best of the Best 2025 Pies in Orlando” award from Orlando Family Magazine. Many customers text her with complements about how delicious their pie was and how much their family and friends enjoyed them. It is very rewarding for Teri to hear back from her customers raving about her traditional, deep dish, oversized handmade pies. Teri’s customers have posted over one hundred sixty, 5-star reviews on Google complementing the buttery, flaky pie crust and delicious, homemade fillings.

What do you think helped you build your reputation within your market?
There’s nothing quite like the taste and nostalgia of homemade pies, especially when remembering the delicious pies made by a family member or grandmother in the past. Our customers appreciate the homemade taste of our pies and also enjoy a treat for the eyes with beautifully decorated homemade fruit pies with artistic lattice tops, cream pies piled high with whipped cream, and lemon meringue pies topped with billows of toasted meringue. There’s nothing like having a slice of pure bliss while enjoying your favorite flavor of homemade pie. Since 2020, when our pie company was started, we have strived to create new flavor combinations and continue our passion for traditional pie baking, so that our customers will have a memorable moment with every bite of pie. Our pie crust is also a treat for the taste buds with customers writing reviews raving about our hand rolled, buttery and flaky pie crust that complements our pie fillings.
Customers are looking for attention to detail, commitment to quality, along with excellent and prompt communication and delivery. Our passion and skill in developing new recipes and being highly regarded for our buttery, flaky crusts and variety of sweet, high-quality fillings is making a sweet difference, and the Central Florida community has supported us with their loyalty and repeat business.

Can you tell us about what’s worked well for you in terms of growing your clientele?
Our past customers have been the best source of new clients through their recommendations to friends. Customers have also posted over one hundred sixty, 5-star Google reviews online about how much they enjoyed their pies, including our buttery, flaky pie crust and our friendly customer service.
Another online strategy that has been successful in growing our clientele is after meeting every customer for a pie delivery or pickup, we text the customer and ask them to review their pie online. These reviews have been an excellent source of new business since potential new customers are searching online for quality deserts that are baked locally. We also send emails to our client base reminding them to order pies for upcoming holidays and special days like Pi Day coming up on Saturday March 14th, 2026. Pi Day is an annual celebration honoring the mathematical constant Pi, which represents the ratio of a circle’s circumference to its diameter, approximately 3.14. March 14th was chosen because the numerical date (3/14) matches the first three digits of the infinite number. Common traditions include celebrating with pies and fruit.
