We were lucky to catch up with Teresa Stimpert recently and have shared our conversation below.
Teresa, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Earning a full time living from one’s creative career can be incredibly difficult. Have you been able to do so and if so, can you share some of the key parts of your journey and any important advice or lessons that might help creatives who haven’t been able to yet?
Absolutely, I’m blessed to say that I’ve been able to earn a full-time living from my creative work. It’s been a journey of diversifying my skill set and seizing opportunities as they come my way. I believe that being open to a wide range of projects and clients has been key to my success.
When I first started, I focused on building a diverse income stream. I took on freelance projects that paid well and allowed me to sharpen my skills in various areas, like copywriting, marketing collateral, and ghostwriting. At the same time, I invested my time and energy into building assets like Elite Agent Resource and Living Florida Group, which provide long-term growth potential.
One of the most important lessons I’ve learned is to avoid getting caught up in whether a project perfectly aligns with my career narrative. As a creative, I’m driven by the desire to constantly create and deliver value. By accepting most well-paying work that comes my way, I’ve been able to grow my client base and establish lasting relationships.
If I could go back and give advice to my younger self, I would emphasize the importance of setting aside pride and being open to smaller projects from the start. I’ve found that nearly every client who works with me returns for more, so each project, regardless of size, is an opportunity to create a lifetime client. While it’s crucial not to devalue your work, considering the lifetime value of a customer when setting prices and accepting projects can lead to significant long-term benefits.
Also: balance skills you want to learn with skills that are marketable. Have fun, but still work!
In a nutshell, my journey to earning a full-time living from creative work has been one of diversification, seizing opportunities, and building lasting relationships with clients. By being open to a wide range of projects and focusing on delivering value, I believe any creative can build a sustainable and fulfilling career.

Any stories or insights that might help us understand how you’ve built such a strong reputation?
First and foremost, I’ve always placed a huge emphasis on relationships and being involved in my community. Whether I’m collaborating with local businesses, working with authors, or connecting with real estate agents, I see every interaction as a chance to build trust, provide value, and establish long-term partnerships.
In my experience, a referral-based business model is crucial for success. When you consistently deliver top-notch work and exceed client expectations, they become your biggest cheerleaders, referring you to their networks and helping you grow your reach organically. I’ve been lucky to have clients who are excited to recommend my services to others, which has been a major driver of growth for my business.
Being customer-centric is absolutely essential! Whether I’m creating marketing content, developing branding strategies, or ghostwriting books, I always put my clients’ needs and goals first. I take the time to really understand their unique challenges, target audiences, and desired outcomes, tailoring my work to ensure their satisfaction. I keep them in the loop every step of the way. This dedication to customer success is reflected in the consistent 5-star ratings and positive feedback I’ve received throughout my career, from my recent creative endeavors to my previous roles in business development and real estate.
I believe that my diverse background and versatile skill set have played a big role in establishing my reputation. By leveraging my experience in marketing, sales, and business development, I bring a strategic perspective to my creative work. I’m not just crafting compelling content; I’m also understanding how it fits into the bigger picture of my clients’ business objectives. This holistic approach sets me apart and allows me to deliver results that go way beyond just words on a page.
Being a versatile creative has its challenges – it’s tough to get known for just one thing. That’s why relationships are so important – keeping people in the loop about all the things you’re capable of. If my advice is not to limit the projects you take on, it’s also not to limit the results you share! Everything you do is worth being proud of.
At the end of the day, building a strong reputation in my market has been a combination of prioritizing relationships, focusing on customer satisfaction, leveraging my diverse expertise, and consistently delivering high-quality work. By treating every project as an opportunity to make a lasting impact and build trust, I’ve been able to establish myself as a go-to creative professional in my community and beyond.

Do you have multiple revenue streams – if so, can you talk to us about those streams and how your developed them?
YES! A must. My business thrives on multiple revenue streams. It’s not just about financial stability, but also about keeping things interesting and continuously growing.
A significant portion of my income comes from my work with Living Florida Group, a top-performing real estate team. As their go-to creative professional, I handle a wide range of projects, from copywriting and marketing to branding and script development. This ongoing collaboration provides a steady flow of work and keeps me engaged.
Another major revenue source is my partnership with Elite Agent Resource, a company dedicated to supporting real estate agents. I help them create valuable content and resources for their audience. Not only does this generate project-based income, but as a part-owner, I’m also building an asset for the long term.
In addition, I generate revenue through my freelance ghostwriting services. I collaborate with authors to bring their non-fiction books to life, particularly in the self-help and relationship genres. Each project allows me to flex my storytelling muscles while helping clients share their expertise with a wider audience.
I even still get real estate referrals from time to time. Your girl does not turn down a dollar.
I’m always open to exploring new opportunities to expand my income streams, whether it’s taking on new clients, partnering with businesses, or developing my own creative products.
Having multiple revenue streams provides a safety net and a springboard for growth. It keeps my business resilient and allows me to pursue a diverse range of creative projects. There’s never a dull moment, and there’s always room to evolve.
In summary, my business is built on multiple revenue streams, including ongoing partnerships, project-based work, and freelance ghostwriting. This diversification keeps things exciting, financially stable, and full of potential for growth.”
