Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Temika Brackins. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Alright, Temika thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Before we get into specifics, let’s talk about success more generally. What do you think it takes to be successful?
Being successful is hard work and dedication, to be successful you must have the right mindset. Sometimes success takes long days and nights. I am a serial entrepreneur and I have created a coaching program that shows you how to turn your ideas into a business or a profitable hustle. Success also takes investing in your self, you must continue to learn and get knowledge and information in order to help your community. You must continue to trust God and be a good leader. The measure of success is happiness and peace of mind.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I am Meka also known as Touched by Meka. I am a serial entrepreneur and I have always been. I started my journey in entrepreneurship at the young age of eight. I would have rummage sales, lemonade stands, I would even organize people’s closets for money on the weekends.
My Mother was a hair stylist so I watched her do people’s hair as a young girl. My Grandmother had beautiful long hair which I use to enjoy styling her hair. I begin to braid hair when I was 8 years old. My Mother passed away in 2008 and I realized doing other people’s hair was what got me through the pain.
In 2009, after doing my daughters hair everyday is when I realized I wanted to make a career out of this. My Husband walked in the room one day and said maybe you should go to school for cosmetology, moments later the Empire Beauty commercial came on and that was my confirmation. I went to visit the school and signed up in 2009.
When I started school on the first day we spoke about scalp diseases and scalp disorders. It was so disgusting that I packed my things and was about to leave when one of the educators caught me and said don’t leave I see the potential in you. All of these years later I am a certified hair loss practitioner where I heal peoples hair, scalp and hair loss conditions.
I offer Hair Loss and Hair Care Services and products. My Product line is called Meka’s Miracle Growth these products restores and rejuvenate your hair and scalp. These products can be found in my online store at www.touchedbymeka.com. My products and services are for people who suffer from hair loss and damaged hair. What sets me apart is my goal is to not only restore hair loss but confidence. If we are confident and healed within our mindset we can conquer anything as women. My goal is to empower women and help others turn their visions into reality. I offer a coaching program that is called The mindset of a serial entrepreneur which has helped over 200 people turn their ideas into a successful business.
I am mostly proud of being a leader. I remember my first day of cosmetology school I said my goal is to be an educator. I am a licensed educator and own and operate Slay Masters University and Hair Loss Clinic. I want everyone to know that there are still great people out here that cares about your well being. I care about other people winning and living the life they desire and deserve. I do everything with integrity and all things with God first.
How’d you build such a strong reputation within your market?
I believe what has helped me to build my reputation within my market is my excellent customer service skills. Customer service means everything to me. I use to be on the other side of the chair and the service sucked, I believe it starts with the first encounter. First impression, leaves a lasting impression. I believe in treating people how I want to be treated and I believe in pleasing God and doing things with love.

How did you put together the initial capital you needed to start your business?
Funding of my business, I love to speak on this because I have never had to take out funding for any of my businesses. I have had over 12 brick and mortar locations and blessed to say I have funded them out of my pocket. I love being the lender and not the borrower in most situations. I am highly blessed because my Husband is a jack of all things, so he does all the work in my businesses, painting, electrical, plumbing etc.
I am a visionary so when God gives me the vision he gives me the provision. I believe Gods will is Gods bill so I move on faith when it comes to business and funding the business. This is how my group coaching program The Mindset of a serial entrepreneur was birth. I can show others how to get the ideas out their head and start the business with little to no funding. How to turn your vision into reality and make money.
