We were lucky to catch up with Teesha Borum recently and have shared our conversation below.
Teesha, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Are you happier as a business owner? Do you sometimes think about what it would be like to just have a regular job?
I absolutely love being a business owner. It’s what I’ve always wanted to do because it suits my personality. I’ve had literal nightmares of working past jobs. But I’m filled with gratitude when I’m jolted back into reality, knowing that I get to fuse my proclivity to work alone, with my love for creating.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your background and context?
I am the Owner/Designer of High Vibe Sentiments. I started off making affirmative apparel and accessories before deciding to focus on my love for jewelry making. Having made plenty of rings from telephone wire, when I was young- the idea laid dormant until I took a metal stamping class, 10+ years ago. It made my brain happy:) I love that there are so many ways to approach design, especially with such a wide variety of mediums to explore. My design choice: Keep it simple but make it pretty!
My preferred metals are gold toned (18k gold plated stainless steel, raw brass, and 14k gold filled). However, I do incorporate copper for the benefits, and have just started making pieces in silver toned (stainless steel) because of the many requests.
Aside from creating pretty jewelry, the intention behind the pieces I make is to incorporate my love for nature, which keeps my vibes high. Through observation and meditation we can get so many answers to life’s worries. The high vibe sentiment I’d like people to take away from my brand is “Recognize your divinity and dim your light for no one.”

How about pivoting – can you share the story of a time you’ve had to pivot?
In 2020 I officially pivoted from my previous business (making bath and body products), to my current business. I was personally having a hard time scaling, so it became a chore rather than a passion. The burnout lead me to reminiscing about the endorphins I felt when taking my first jewelry class. Everything in me said “go!” I had a vision of an opportunity that made itself manifest a week later- which confirmed that I was on the right track. That’s how I prefer to operate in life and as a business owner…go with the flow and follow the passion.

Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?
Moving to Atlanta 19 years ago led me through seasons so difficult it felt like entering a dark portal. Yet, I don’t feel called to be anywhere else. I realize now that those challenges were necessary lessons in empowerment. By finding solace in nature and extracting inspiration from every ‘sour’ moment, I’ve recognized my own divinity with the help of unseen forces. Dimming my light is not an option. I am genuinely proud of the life I’ve forged from the fire.
