We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Taylor Reese. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Taylor below.
Taylor, appreciate you joining us today. We’d love to hear about the things you feel your parents did right and how those things have impacted your career and life.
My parents are both so ambitious and hardworking. I watched my mom study for certifications, and, when faced with failure, she’d try again until she passed. Her diligence put her in position to earn senior leadership status for a major corporation. Then my dad graduated with his doctorate of medicine and he opened a healthcare clinic which is still open 30 years later. I have the best of them both, and I grew into an assiduous athlete and student because of their example.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
I am a certified stretch therapist and fitness coach. The journey that got me here began with a knee injury in 2016 while I was playing college basketball, and in the process of recovery I was able to reconnect with my body and gain an appreciation for stability and mobility training. Prior to my injury, I thought everything needed to be high-intensity to be effective. Now, I recognize that the little things are really the big things. That doesn’t just apply to health and fitness; it’s universal.
So, after injury recovery, I graduated with my first degree and got into the health and wellness space full-time. I worked on the treatment side of medicine in spine, joints, and cardiology for a while, but I’ve found my place more on the prevention side with exercise and stretch coaching.
My clients come to me with all kinds of bone, joint, and/or muscular ailments, and many of them have tried so many things and have gotten no relief. Then, they get on my table for the first time and they feel better than they’ve felt in years. It is not a one-size-fits-all quick fix by any means. Lasting results require consistency and patience, but the people who put the time in come out with the most life-changing results and I’m so grateful to be able to bless people’s lives in this way.
I am most proud of my clients. I have worked with some for nearly 3 years now and others for just a handful of weeks, and playing a part in the growth of each and every person has been the greatest gift this career has given me. I work so hard for them, and even when I’m tired I give them my absolute best. In return, they get to live happier and healthier lives. One client comes to mind who experienced debilitating headaches for 20+ years, and she visited countless doctors and professionals and nothing seemed to stick. She was going through life with the constant feeling that her head would explode from the pressure. Then, she met me. Today, she is so much happier and she can enjoy her life. Her story exemplifies what sets me apart from other allied healthcare professionals because she tried so many different treatments and methods, but those only addressed her symptoms. Then we met, I heard her story, I got her on my table, and I treated the underlying cause and solved her issue.

Can you tell us about what’s worked well for you in terms of growing your clientele?
Word of mouth. When you treat people well and it’s evident that you have taken time to pursue mastery of your craft, your clients will do all of your marketing for you.

What’s a lesson you had to unlearn and what’s the backstory?
I had to unlearn the idea that the people sitting in the stands to cheer me on during basketball seasons would be the same people to back me up in my business pursuits. It’s fun and glamorous to be associated with the athlete or the person who is already at the top, but when I was on the way up in this next season of my life, I felt alone by comparison. It hurt, but I needed that. We all do. It didn’t necessarily mean those fans were fake, but it did mean I needed to prove to them and to myself that I’m a winner in life and not just in sports. So, I kept winning.
