We recently connected with Taylor Javey and have shared our conversation below.
Taylor, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Naming anything – including a business – is so hard. Right? What’s the story behind how you came up with the name of your brand?
My name is Taylor Javey! I was born and raised in Youngstown, Ohio on October 11 (aka 10-11) which is how I came up with the name for my company “1011 Fabrics.”
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I started my brand while attending Youngstown State University’s Master of Athletic Training program. 1011 Fabrics is an online clothing boutique created to help me pay for graduate school and meet my lifelong dream of graduating debt free. And with the support of my family and friends, I was able to cross that goal off!
Can you tell us about a time you’ve had to pivot?
A time I had to pivot in business, was when I graduated college. As mentioned before – I received my Master’s of Athletic Training from Youngstown State University & upon graduation I got a full time job in my field. This had me put my business on the back burner while networking and growing in the profession I worked so hard for in school.
During my first year at my full time job, I felt guilty for ignoring my business but I had no time to spare as a growing clinician who was just “getting her feet wet.” In my off time I was still searching this to help me become a better Athletic Trainer.
I am now 2 years post graduate, and feel its time to put my energy back into my business because it brought me so much happiness and can lead me to financial freedom.
Don’t get me wrong – I love being an Athletic Trainer, but my passion is in fashion … which can be fulfilled with my online boutique.
What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?
The most rewarding aspect of being a creator is watching my confidence grow in a field no one close to be has done.
It gives me peace of mind, that I was brave enough to take the leap of faith and now I’m trying to stay consistent with it to bare the fruits of my labor.
