We were lucky to catch up with Tayler Tate recently and have shared our conversation below.
Tayler, appreciate you joining us today. Let’s start with inspirations and heroes. Are there any historical figures you look up to?
A Historical figure in the realm of art that I look up to and constantly inspires me is Tupac Shakur. His work ethic was unparalleled and the work he made had such a lasting impact on society that people still quote and analyze his life 20 plus years after his death. I admire his passion and his mission to share stories, educate, and give voice to people who were not often heard or misunderstood by society. Everything he did he did it with all of his being and I strive to do the same in my art practice.
Watching and listening to him taught me that some of the best art makes people think and reflect, inspires action, and stirs emotion within the viewer whether it is good or bad. His life also taught me the value of time and determination. We will never really have enough time but we can accomplish great things and inspire people with the time we do have if we put the effort in.

Tayler, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I have always had a knack for and desire to create things and art its self has always been a source of peace for me. I used to want to be a dj for the longest time because I have a great love of music. I even had short stint of being hired for parties in middle and some of high school.
But I got serious about visual art in high school because I had a really awesome art teacher named Jennifer Arvay who showed me it was something I was good at and I could make a career out of. I was fortunate to work 3 summers with St.Louis art works which taught me the business of selling art and working with clients at an early age. From there I went to Webster university for art school and Ive been crafting my Artistic business ever since.
Today I offer a number of creative services and goods from portraits and commissioned drawings, to logo designs, t-shirts, unique jewelry and Mannequin head centerpieces that can be used for home decor lol. Im a very curious person by nature so if some one comes to me with an idea for something they want made I love to work with them to bring it to life.
The problems I solve for people would be bringing their ideas to life. A lot of the people I work with come to me with an idea but they don’t know how to bring it into exsistance, that’s where I come in. I take their idea and I turn into that t-shirt, drawing, decor, etc.
What I am most proud of are all the people I have created for that wanted a gift for a loved on or wanted to have something to remember a person who has passed on. Knowing I made something that brought a smile to brought a smile to some one is the best feeling in the world, and in the world we live in bringing some one joy makes it all worth it!
Currently I’m extremely proud of the coloring book I have recently published with Amazon “Broken Crayons Still Color: A Motivational Coloring Book For Artists and Creatives”.
I had some rough experiences with depression, anxiety, and even imposter syndrome from time to time. After going to therapy I was able to identify methods to help me cope and rise above my mental struggles. One of those methods was coloring and reading affirmations. Some where in this journey I realized I can’t be the only person who deals with these kind of struggles especially as some one who fancies them self a creative and if these tools were helpful to me they may help some one else.
So I decided to make something that could give people a source of positivity and tool to relax and let go of stress, And broken crayons still color was born! I’ve had a really positive response from it from all sorts of different people thus far and Im looking forward to making more coloring books that inspire and encourage people!
As far as the main thing I want people to know about me is my goal in life is to be a vessel for creativity and expression. I want Artistictay’s studio to be a place that celebrates uniqueness and creates things to uplift, educate, inspire, and help people as well as small businesses realize what ever they can imagine.

Where do you think you get most of your clients from?
Word of mouth for sure! I may make a painting or a pair of earrings for someone. Some one else sees it and then my information gets passed along and I’m making something for some one else. Little by little it expands my exposure for new people and new opportunities.

What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?
I think the most rewarding thing about being an artist is having the power to offer a different perspective and evoke emotion in people.
If you can make something and someones mind set or mood is changed for the better from it or they become more open minded because you showed them another way to look at something you can arguably be the spark that causes some one to go out and make a difference or form a connection.
I literally can’t think of anything more rewarding than inspiring people or making people take a minute to stop and think about something they might not have before.
