We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Tatiana Ramos a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Tatiana thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Was there a defining moment in your professional career? A moment that changed the trajectory of your career?
The day I became a certified keto coach I wondered what I was going to do with all my previous training as a journalist as well as my experience as a college professor and marketing professional. Basically, being a wellness provider had nothing to do with what I prepared myself for. Life was devising this big surprise for me, that is the gift of being able to share all of it through a healing way. I like to call it magic. Precisely because of all my years of experience I can now teach, inform and help others through my own brand: Tatyketo.

Tatiana, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
Being overweight was a battle I struggled with for a long time. Fighting obesity hasn’t been easy; it involved a bariatric surgery and a total life change, from healing emotional wounds, and practicing gratitude, to meditation and returning to the water (swimming, my favorite sport). During that process, I went back to the books and took more than ten courses and certifications on nutrition and ketogenic diet at the National Autonomous University of Mexico, Stanford University, FAB Academy, Mystic Core Movements, Unimetab with Frank Suárez, and more. I also embarked on a new approach to the kitchen. I relearned and rethought so many dishes! making them apt for my new way of eating: better ingredients, better choices, new flavors, new combinations. I started by recreating our typical comfort foods: from cake to pizza, except my versions were sugar free, gluten free, grain free, and still delicious. I realized it was possible becoming a healthier person while still enjoying great meals and tasty foods.
So, after losing over 200 pounds, I realized that my obesity war was not against fat or food, rather against disinformation. When we go down the road of healthy bodies and conscious eating, we do need to study, investigate, and change many limiting habits and beliefs. What began as my path for a healthier living is now my way to help others who need that change, who want to live better, happier, and for a longer time.
I do that as a ketogenic coach.

Putting training and knowledge aside, what else do you think really matters in terms of succeeding in your field?
Being successful has been possible because I paid attention to my surroundings. I realized how much people needed to learn about healing through food and the right information. People is tired of lies and illnesses. In my very particular case I decided to focus in one segment: Hispanic female over 50; however, all sort of people have come to me looking for answers that I am happy to give whenever is possible. I believe it has also been all about the right time and an amazing supportive keto community.
Have you ever had to pivot?
Tatyketo was born in 2018, first only as a chef and motivator. After only 3 months people were already requesting me to become their coach and lead them in challenges. A year into that I was not only coaching and being present at shows and fairs with my culinary creations, I launched my first keto planner which became an instant success. Universities wanted me to teach online classes for practical nutritional studies. In 2020, I was contacted by a radio station to have my own keto show. So there I was in less than 18 months with my own community, doing boot camps, zoom classes, a radio show, private coaching and a so I went a little further after realizing that the Hispanic market was certainly craving more content: on December 2020 I launched “La Guía Keto en Español” a bookazine full of scientific yet friendly content, recipes, planners, interviews with the keto gurus and more. People kept asking me for guidance, cooking classes, and on December 2021 I created Bistattis, my own brand of keto and vegan biscotties.
What is next? There are several projects in the works, starting with a podcast…
