We recently connected with Tareta Lynette and have shared our conversation below.
Tareta , appreciate you joining us today. Has your work ever been misunderstood or mischaracterized?
I believe everyone has at some point in their lives, experienced a moment or season of being misunderstood, and if you haven’t, then as the older generations would say, “keep living”. I believe every person has been commissioned to do something, and with every commission there’s a unique mission to fulfill. Just as no one’s handprints are identical, the same goes for our unique call; everyone’s purpose is individualized to accommodate where they are going, who they are called to impact, and what they are destined to accomplish in life. Being misunderstood by others is bound to happen from time to time, because people have a natural tendency to evaluate others through the lenses they see through, and from where their own life is at that moment.

Tareta , before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
Honestly, I can’t say that there is one single, exclusive path I took that got me to where I am today. I believe there were several avenues and routes I had to go through, along with receiving wise counsel from key advisors that helped position me. It definitely takes more than one ingredient to make a cake! Although I’m not the final version of that cake, I know there were several necessary components, both simple and challenging, that brought me this far.
I’m learning every day that with life, there comes those seasons that are pivotal. You can start off operating in one area or within a certain discipline, only to experience that “aha” moment of insight that will lead you to transition into another craft. I have learned to embrace and move with that “pivot” whenever it comes.
As a content creator (YouTube) and author, I’m intentional about using my platforms to give hope and inspiration to others. This just didn’t start today though; from my teenage years and throughout my adult life, I constantly find myself motivating and pushing the people around me to not only be better in that moment, but to become better versions of themselves for their futures. I’ve always been that optimistic individual who is able to see beyond a person’s current circumstances. If life gives them lemons, I help them see that they possess the main ingredients to make fresh lemonade.
Today I’m graced to offer that same level of hope on other scales as an author and through my YouTube channel, Elevate with Tareta Lynette. I created this channel to help uplift my audience with short segments of inspirational and biblical content. To try and help other people focus more on their purpose and significant goals, I also created a planner titled, Focus: Think on These Things, to assist individuals in obtaining their desired results. My goal is to be a voice of hope to the hopeless and bring encouragement to the discouraged, so being able to do this makes me beyond proud.

Any resources you can share with us that might be helpful to other creatives?
Absolutely! Outside of having a supportive community behind me, one resource I wish I’d knew about earlier is the importance of mentorship. Having a mentor as part of your growth circle is necessary. One of the best benefits of a mentor or a coach is that these individuals have been where you are trying to go. They have the ability to help propel you into your desired field or industry much quicker than you might make that journey on your own. In addition, the right mentor or coach will possess a wealth of knowledge and wisdom to help make your path less challenging. I can say that my mentors today have aided in changing the trajectory of my creative journey.
What do you think is the goal or mission that drives your creative journey?
What keeps me going is knowing that my purpose is much bigger than I am. I love how one of my mentors says that in this life, we should be conduits and not containers. As a conduit, being on this creative journey will sometimes call for necessary pivots, and I am definitely open to those moments when it comes to having an impact on the lives of others. My mission is to continue to be a beacon of hope. As God inspires me, my goal is to take that same inspiration and pass it along to others through my work as an author, and through my platform as a content creator.
