Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Tara Brown. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Tara, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. We’d love to hear the backstory of how you established your own practice.
In 2018, I walked away from an 11 year career in healthcare. I followed the path that was set for me by my parents and family and honestly, although I love helping people ….I didn’t even enjoy working in healthcare as long as I did. However, I stayed in that field because it was my safe haven. I could always fall back on it if everything else failed. Then one day, I knew I had to stop it. I had to stop working in healthcare. I had to stop trying to find replacements for what I know I truly wanted to be. I wanted to be a business owner helping people feel better and take better care of themselves. I went on a self healing journey and down a long path trying everything until I realized working in Wellness was where I should be. So I enrolled into various Wellness training programs Gaining My certifications as a Life Coach, Yoga Instructor and Holistic Healer. I tried many times to apply at different Yoga studios and Wellness facilities but no one would give me a chance, so I decided to start my own Yoga & Wellness Studio. I gave myself a chance and created my own lane and now I’m here living in my dream. It took me 2 years to get here but I’m grateful for it because I learned a lot and I’m proving to myself and those Naysayers who didn’t believe in me that I can do it. I’m now living this everyday!

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I started with a desire to first want to change my own life and get out of being stuck in a life that wasn’t for me. Then once I did that, I wanted to help others add new ways to their life to live better as well. My approach to Yoga & Wellness is different from others, which is why I realized I didn’t get the yes I was looking for. I apply all that I’ve learned from my years worked in healthcare and my knowledge of Holistic Health to the work that I’m doing now. “I am every woman”…I’ve literally been everywhere and done so much that I’ve mastered how to relate to everyone and that’s what I do at my business. I treat everyone with compassion, love, support and respect because I really love what I’m doing. It’s not just Yoga, it’s more than that. I’m teaching and sharing Yoga and Wellness as a lifestyle because I believe that once you adopt something new as a lifestyle it stays.

We often hear about learning lessons – but just as important is unlearning lessons. Have you ever had to unlearn a lesson?
A lesson I had to learn-Whenever you decide to embark on a new journey, understand that your path may not include everyone who’s close to you. If success is what you’re after on your path, there are going to be times that you will walk alone. I’m not saying that success is or will be a lonely path but the one who chooses to go after their dreams, needs to know that not everyone you know will support you the way you think they will.
Don’t be afraid to walk alone. Don’t be afraid to branch out and meet new people and make new friends. Embarking on a new journey, means you’re going to have to get uncomfortable to outgrow your environment and your old self. Success looks different for everyone, but everyone can agree that it will only happen when you’re ready to become a new you and put yourself around people who support that!
