We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Taniece Reed a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Taniece, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Let’s start with the story of your mission. What should we know?
My company’s mission statement is simple. We use SMART goals to create safety plans, heighten Situational Awareness, teach children to “See something, say Something, teach adults how not to be ignorant or careless with their safety and movements and to promote someone saving their own life. We’re big on people having self-confidence and understanding what are safe zones and so much more.
Great, we appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers?
My name is Taniece Reed and I am the CEO and founder of Pretty Shooters Firearms Training, LLC. I started this training school to give women and like minded individuals a sense of pride and self-assurance when learning to shoot. Learning this hobby from the men in my family has always given me the extra confidence I needed to feel empowered and safe. I have always had a passion for practicing at the range and knew that my passion was to be shared amongst like minds.
I prove that if you love what you do it can become bigger than life. I believe that understanding safety and basic fundamentals are key components to my training experience. Here at Pretty Shooters Firearms we maintain the goal of a judgment free zone all while educating and encouraging our student’s interest and participation. We offer a safe space for women and men to voice their safety concerns and needs. Having a class with me will touch on more than just firearms. We will take a look into how we can improve your overall safety and thought process. Whether you want to learn about armed self-defense or safe gun handling …. We encourage you to be a “Pretty Good Shooter ” and not be scared but PREPARED!
Any stories or insights that might help us understand how you’ve built such a strong reputation?
I think my stellar customer service plus my ability to never stop learning really shines through when people reach out to my business for training or help. As a community, we all have a moral responsibility to “See something, Say something”. We often contribute to a negative situation by not using our Situational Awareness daily and consistently. With every phone call or email that I take, I ensure that everyone understands the process for each class, the course objectives, and to ask them their comfort level before starting my courses. I have truly put myself in their shoes to offer a course or product for everyone at all levels. This has helped create my following with tons of loyal and repeat customers.
What’s worked well for you in terms of a source for new clients?
The best source for new clients is word of mouth and social engagement. People often love my courses and refer people to come get the information needed to feel comfortable and confident on a day to day. I also give out free gun locks to people who don’t have their firearms locked up properly away from children. I also offer Stop the Bleed courses to people who live in high crime areas. These are just more ways that I meet so many people who eventually become recurring clients.
