We were lucky to catch up with Taliah McGhee recently and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Taliah thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Risking taking is a huge part of most people’s story but too often society overlooks those risks and only focuses on where you are today. Can you talk to us about a risk you’ve taken – it could be a big risk or a small one – but walk us through the backstory.
Going full time with being an entrepreneur. It has definitely had its hard days but I never have gone without. I don’t want to put my beliefs on others but God has continued to bless me, and provided me with the tools I need. There has been many occasions where business was slow but my bills weren’t. Everything I ever needed came right to me right on time. I started my full time journey due to me being a full time student. I previously tried wearing all hats, running a business, school, and work. I knew something had to give, school and my business meant so much more to me. I’m a firm believer in meditation, positive thinking and I knew everything would be okay. It’s been almost a year since I have worked for anyone else. Do I think about going back to work and having more consistent money? Yes, but I know that my purpose is greater and I know where my business is going.

Taliah, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I am a full time social work student, I hope to one day have my very own private practice and provide therapy to others. On the flip side of that I am a full time entrepreneur, my brand is called Blossomed Co. My brand focuses on providing the best quality accessories for the best prices, I also offer styling services. I know a lot of people struggle with finding their style, and I find joy out of helping them do so. Two completely different directions but they both send the same message, Fashion is art; art is a way of expression. While social work is also a way of expression and helping others find positive ways to do so.
I truly started my brand off the fact I felt like there needed to be more Black owned accessory brands. Yes, my brand welcomes all but how many black owned accessory brands can you name off the top of your head? That sells strictly accessories, that didn’t already have a major platform (not that anything is wrong with it). My brand is for that girl, that boy, them, they.. whoever that enjoys fashion but can see someone like me and feel like they can take over the world! I wanted to start my brand for the ones that are counted out, and what better way to show the world who you are by your style? From the accessories you wear, to the outfit, to the shoes etc.
What sets me apart from others is the fact, I love what I’m doing. I have always had a joy in helping others or making them feel the absolute best! Which I believe I do, from the way I package orders to the way I communicate one on one with others. I’m very proud of the fact that I have left such a positive impact on clients and customers. That’s what really brings me the most joy.
Any thoughts, advice, or strategies you can share for fostering brand loyalty?
Anyone that is on my emailing list, sms list always get first news on new things. Such as deals, restocks, even early access. I treat my customers with the upmost care. Without them I wouldn’t have made it this far. If they provide me with any information to reach them, they are VIP in my book, so they will always be taken care of.

Can you tell us about a time you’ve had to pivot?
When I started offering styling services that was a way for me to pivot. Building an accessory brand from the ground up is not easy. Adding styling services gave me a way to introduce that part of my brand but also step into my other talents.
