Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Tahira Aliya Page . We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Tahira Aliya , thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Let’s kick things off with your mission – what is it and what’s the story behind why it’s your mission?
Project 1840 is a jewel in the community. Our studio serves as a beacon of opportunity for young dancers looking for inspiration and professionalism. We want all dancers to feel welcomed. Dancers gain valuable skills as well as the confidence to share and perform a specific dance style or a piece of choreography. Through this, dancers gain a sense of pride from their own accomplishments in having learnt it and begun to get more skilled at it. One of the most important aspects of of dance program includes the connections and bonds created with other dancers.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
As a professional international dancer, I have studied many genres in studios around the world, I have over 30 years of dance experience. I have created a dance program called Project 1840, in which I have dedicated myself to my current mission of giving dance back to the world. My success is due to the love and support I received as a young dancer from my loving mother Leota and the tenacity she gave me for my dreams. I have dedicated the past 7 years to giving dance back to communities that would not necessarily be exposed to dance and formal training due to social or economic reasons. My mission as a dancer is constantly evolving and growing. I am most proud of the success of the dancers I’ve trained, watching dancers I trained in elementary school, graduate and attend performance arts schools is truly the jewel of Project 18Forty.

Where do you think you get most of your clients from?
The most effect way I’ve found clients is staying true to my craft. Performing is greatest way for the public to see my work and their possible future with me. Performance have a special way of touching the young dancers looking for that perfect group or professional instructor. Community events like block parties, council meetings and local fairs can be just as effective as social media. If I can inspire one dancer then I’ve done my job!!!

We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.
The most important factor behind the success of training young dancers and maintaining a business is a cohesive relationship of my experience and education. I have acquired a unique combination of my dance experience, an extensive background in performing and training young dancers. The key factor to my success is the family support I have received especially from my mother Leota Ann. I have also gained à competitive edge, by traveling the world and studying various genres of dance, my education in Sports Medicine and entrepreneurial passion has been the driving force of resilience.
