We were lucky to catch up with Tabetha McNeal recently and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Tabetha, thanks for joining us today. We’d love to hear about when you first realized that you wanted to pursue a creative path professionally.
When my mom took me to see Wicked on Broadway and the music started, tears streamed down my face. As I watched a short black actress who resembled me perform, I felt an electric spark in my heart. That moment was transformative. I realized that I could achieve my dream of becoming a professional actor. After the show, meeting the cast and stepping backstage, I knew that I belonged there. From that moment on, I poured my heart and soul into pursuing my passion for acting. My mom’s unwavering support made all the difference. Hearing her say that she could see me as a professional actor gave me the courage to pursue my dreams relentlessly. That moment ignited a fire within me that still burns bright today. The lesson I learned is that when you believe in yourself and follow your dreams with conviction, there is nothing you cannot achieve.

Tabetha, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I am Tabetha McNeal, and I am living proof that dreams do come true. Born and raised in Virginia, I have always had a passion for the art of storytelling, and as an African American actress, I bring my unique perspective and voice to everything I do. As a devout Christian, I am guided by my faith and strive to live a life of kindness, grace, and service to others.
My talent and hard work have opened doors for me in the entertainment industry, allowing me to land numerous voice-over projects and lend my voice to various media. But it hasn’t always been an easy road. One of my biggest challenges has been overcoming my shyness on stage. However, I refused to let that fear hold me back, and with unwavering determination and perseverance, I learned to channel my energy and turn my weaknesses into strengths. I am a shining example of perseverance and dedication in the entertainment industry. As a talented actress and voice actor, I have made a name for myself through hard work and an unwavering commitment to my craft.
I am also a voice-over coach at Wendy Alane Wright with The Hollywoods Winner Circle, where I help aspiring actors hone their skills and find their own path to success. My inspiring journey and willingness to give back to others make me a true role model for anyone looking to make their mark in the world of entertainment. I am also proud to have my own show on ROKU called “The Next Up w/ Tabetha McNeal”. Today, I am a respected actress and voice actor, known for my incredible talent, grace, and unyielding commitment to my craft. I hope to inspire others to never give up on their dreams and to always believe in themselves, no matter what challenges they may face.
In your view, what can society to do to best support artists, creatives and a thriving creative ecosystem?
As an advocate for accessible education and equal opportunities in the entertainment industry, I am passionate about creating spaces for actors of all economic backgrounds to thrive. I believe that every aspiring actor should have access to high-quality training and mentorship programs that can help them achieve their dreams, regardless of their financial circumstances. By working towards these goals, we can empower a new generation of actors and make the industry a more diverse, inclusive, and welcoming place for everyone. I believe that the entertainment industry should be more accessible and inclusive, with education and mentorship opportunities available to actors of all economic backgrounds. It’s important to create spaces where ageism does not exist, and where everyone can find their place in the industry. As an actress and voice actor, I am committed to advocating for these changes and working towards a more equitable and diverse entertainment industry.

We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.
I have been through the wringer in this industry and know what it’s like to give everything to my craft and still be denied what I rightfully earned. But rather than letting it break me, I used that experience to turn a new page in my life. I’m now more determined than ever to pursue my dreams and not let others’ opinions hold me back. As I look ahead to the future of my career, I know that every “no” is just a stepping stone to my ultimate “yes.” I refuse to be defined by other people’s limitations, and instead, I’ll blaze my own trail with resilience and determination.
