We recently connected with Sydney Jackson and have shared our conversation below.
Sydney, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. It’s always helpful to hear about times when someone’s had to take a risk – how did they think through the decision, why did they take the risk, and what ended up happening. We’d love to hear about a risk you’ve taken.
When I think of the act of taking a risk, I look at it as completely letting go of your “safety net.” A huge risk I took in the beginning of my entrepreneurial endeavors was quitting my management position at the retail store Lids; to adhere to my indie brand, Zenith — formerly known as Haus of Transparency. I realized it was time to let go of my safety net simply because I was allowing myself to doubt my capabilities. I had no sort of fulfillment putting in my time for someone else’s gain. I had ideas — great ones. That I not only wanted to bring to fruition but also share with the masses through my creativity. My passion for my brand turned into an incredible work ethic that allowed the foundation of the company to start off as a strong one.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
My lifestyle community, Zenith, formerly known as Haus of Transparency, is “Reaching New Heights” — which is the mere meaning behind Zenith itself. The brand name change was huge for me because it reflected internal change as well. As people, we undergo so many unwarranted changes that mold us to who we are in present time. I believe what sets me apart from other individuals is my resilience and ability to understand perspective. Transparency was just the beginning. For those who may know, back in 2020 I started as a skincare brand — creating sugar scrubs, serums, facial towels etc. Throughout the past two years I began sewing and embroidering a plethora of different items. From bags, hats, shirts — whatever I felt. I just wanted Haus to have it. But I really started to fall in love with the marketing and branding aspects of each project I did. Being able to capture images or evoke feeling through aesthetic media was fun to me. I’m a Taurus, so I just simply see the pleasure in life you know!
Zenith is now a lifestyle community. You will be able to find merch, engage in music playlist, and read pop culture articles. We also will be equipped with our marketing sector as well. Helping other business gain exposure through our platform.
The growth I’ve had through my entrepreneurial work/lifestyle is something I’m proud of. I’ve become a better person day by day. I always try to outdo who I was the day before
What can society do to ensure an environment that’s helpful to artists and creatives?
From my perspective, society is too hard on creatives. The best thing we can do as a collective I’d be receptive to where creatives/artists/ etc are in their journey. Having certain expectations of their work and being disappointed when it’s not what they thought is draining; however, as a entrepreneur and creative myself, you have to learn how to tune the world out or you can be engulfed by it.
Have any books or other resources had a big impact on you?
I’d probably have to say Robert Greene’s entire collection of books. The 48 Laws of Power, The Laws of Human Nature, 33 Strategies of War.
