We recently connected with Syannah and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Syannah thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. What’s been the most meaningful project you’ve worked on?
One of the most meaningful projects I’ve worked on was my song “The Outcast” and its music video. I wrote it as an anthem for anyone who’s ever felt like an outsider, including myself. I know exactly what it’s like to sit in the corner of a classroom, feeling misunderstood and out of place.
Over the years, through a lot of inner work, my journey as an artist, and the friends I’ve made along the way, I’ve learned to overcome a lot of insecurities, to believe in myself, and to embrace my uniqueness – That is why I wrote that song and why it means so much to me. It aims to create a safe space for others who have ever felt like an outcast themselves. We are all so special, and our quirks and imperfections are what make us unique – There’s no need to feel “not good enough.”
For the video, I asked the headmaster of my former school if we could shoot there, and the school’s acting class agreed to participate. Organizing everything was a challenge, especially because we shot the video just 12 days before I moved from Vienna to LA, but it was worth every moment and every cent. The team was amazing, the kids did a fantastic job, and now the song and video are out there, hopefully inspiring others to feel seen and to believe in themselves a little more.

Syannah, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
My name is Syannah, I am a singer-songwriter originally from Austria, but I am currently living in Los Angeles. I create English-speaking music that blends emotional pop ballads with catchy pop songs, and I love incorporating elements of different styles like country, rock, and indie in my music. What sets my music apart is how deeply personal and rooted it is in my own experiences. My lyrics are all about storytelling – whether it’s about love, loss, or bigger themes like self-awareness, inner growth, and personal development. These topics are not only central to my music but also a big part of my presence on social media, where I engage with my audience on similar themes.
I started making my own music about 7 years ago, and it has been a journey ever since. For a long time, I had been denying that dream of becoming an artist because of self-doubts and the belief that ‘I will never be good enough anyway’. But luckily, “Life kicked me in the b*tt” and I started doing what I had always wanted to do.
After not touching a guitar for 10 years (I took very few guitar lessons as a kid), I started taking guitar lessons again at the age of 20 and started writing one song after another, did everything I could to get better, went busking and performed at every open mic night I could find. I found myself teachers not only for guitar playing but also for singing, acting, and songwriting, and networked with other musicians and producers as much as possible.
I took any help I could get to become a better musician, performer, and songwriter, and to learn about the music business. I worked several part-time jobs over the years to afford this dream and I did a lot of inner work to stay focused and to keep fulfilling that dream.
Because of that journey, I love to share my stories and my approaches that I have learned over the years to live out this dream that I had neglected for so long, hoping to encourage others to believe in themselves more and to do what they love.
My entire work as an artist aims to make people feel, opening up a safe space to make them feel welcome, seen and inspired.
I’ve been performing for several years now, in all sorts of venues in Austria, Germany, and Los Angeles. I aim to create an intimate space throughout my live shows. I love interacting with the audience and telling stories in between songs that connect everything into one cohesive, meaningful set.
Every show is meant to take people on an emotional journey, and I believe that personal touch and honesty is what makes my performances stand out.
What I’m really proud of is my ability to connect with people on a deeper level. It’s not just about the music for me – it’s also about helping others feel seen and understood. I want to inspire people to fully express themselves and go after their dreams. I often say, “My product is my songs, and my service is my words,” because the message behind my music is just as important to me as the songs themselves.
One of my biggest accomplishments so far is that I had the chance to combine my music with a speech at a TEDx event in 2023, a direction I want to explore more in the future.
In short, my work is for people who are looking for more than just entertainment. My fans are often on their own journeys of self-discovery, seeking inspiration and encouragement to pursue their dreams. I love sharing my experiences to provide that sense of connection and motivation.

What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?
Honestly, one of the most rewarding things as a singer/songwriter is the connection with the audience. Being able to express myself through my music and to call that my profession is already such a beautiful feeling. But being on stage, interacting with the audience, hearing their feedback about how they connected with my songs, how they could relate, and how my music makes them feel…that is a feeling I can’t put into words. Every time I receive such feedback, I think, “Yesss, that is exactly why I do what I do.” It is one of the most fulfilling aspects of my work as an artist.

What do you think is the goal or mission that drives your creative journey?
I like to say that I dream big. My biggest dream is to become successful as an artist, not only for my own benefit, but also to use my voice to make a positive impact on the world.
Alongside my creative work, I envision myself doing charity work in the future, building my own charitable campaigns, and organizing events to support good causes. I want to use the platform I build to help others.
One of my most meaningful visions is to create a huge charity event, featuring a lineup that includes not only me but also many of my musician friends from around the globe. Over the years, I’ve met incredible artists who have become close friends, and I can’t imagine anything more beautiful than sharing a stage with them, hanging out backstage just like we used to after open mic nights or performances at our favorite live music venues. We are better together, and that is definitely one of the visions that drives me the most. :)
