Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Sushia Lancaster. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Alright, Sushia thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Can you open up about a risk you’ve taken – what it was like taking that risk, why you took the risk and how it turned out?
Taking a risk with my music and personal life as a whole has been the backbone that I needed.
It is crucial for one to come to this understanding in life. A ride it will be in testing ones characters, but so fruitful. I am blessed in seeing the personal and musical growth I have had. I know there is plenty to come in life that I cannot see. I continue with what I know and stay mindful with the risks to come in this life.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
My name is Sushia, pronounced (Sue-sh-a)
I was born in Russia, chucked in an orphanage, and adopted when I was 5 to come to the states. I have resided in Texas since, with travel to other places as well. I began guitar through the gifting of a beginner electric guitar / amp combo. It mainly purposed as room decor as I would only fiddle here and there and was way more into singing. I humorously recall the number of songs I would blare out using a Swiffer WetJet in my room.
In my mid to late 20s I began messing with the guitar more and here’s what has come of it thus far ha. ( Plus the pairing of putting myself out there with open mics).
Since dedicating myself, I have kept disciplined through learning new techniques, covers, and now how to read sheet music. I do stray and become lazy with it, but I always find myself back.
I am most proud of learning guitar myself. This has been coupled with the great resources I have been gifted and had access to as well.
The biggest thing that sets me apart for sure is my music sound. The number of times people have made mention of it being nothing they have heard before is notable.
The main thing I want future venues, followers, and fans to know is that I aim to provide the most raw, energetic, and authentic listening experience. Music is so powerful and it would be renowning to be remembered for it.

How did you build your audience on social media?
I have built my audience primarily through the talking and showing of my visual social media handle at shows I perform at.
A dj once told me that humans take in information primarily through visuals. I can understand, as I do.
Being present online helps a good deal as well. Something I am bad at, but that’s a conversation for another time.

What can society do to ensure an environment that’s helpful to artists and creatives?
Open-minded partnership amongst communities would be one of the highest achievable paths in achieving the question in talk.
Witnessing first hand the power of successful partnership amongst the variable faucets we have with our artists, creatives, and businesses alike and different, is truly blissful.
So many opportunities can be and are created in society when the light bulb goes off. Begin with the idea for this concept (i.e. market, festival, show to name a few) and then communicate and collaborate. Things do and can come from your ideas.
