We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Sunja Harris. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Sunja below.
Alright, Sunja thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Showing clients you appreciate them is something I think most folks want to do – but it’s not always clear how to do it in a meaningful way. What’s one of the best examples of client appreciation you can share with us?
Firstly, as a pro Tax Preparer, I believe I’m offering a tremendous service to all who choose to allow me to handle their federal and state tax refunds. I am also always grateful because no one has to choose me. You can do your own taxsa or you can choose from thousands of other tax preparers. And it’s because of my gratitude that I show my clients how much I appreciate each and everyone of them. I had a tax client last year who had been contacted by the IRS and she was distraught when she reached out to see if I could help her get everything together. It took us a while but I was there with her through every step and each prior year of taxes that had to be filled. When offering a service you always hope that your intentions to deliver your best service are completely perceived. Here was her response to my services:
Sunja is my hero! With all things, she is very knowledgeable in her craft. She effectively handles any circumstance with care and precision. I love the way she pays attention to her clients making sure she’s always personable and relatable. Her professional and personal countenances are perfect when dealing with her clients. My experience was top tier and Sunja was able to effectively AND efficiently work with me to get the job done! She is amazing, dependable, and trustworthy! I highly recommend Sunja!

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I’m a Bilingual Spanish Pro Tax Preparer! I love helping clients understand more about their earnings, as well as how taxes work. I work under my brother, Dr. Montavious McKenzie, who’s been in the business over 10 years and he’s also a medical doctor lol. I started out assisting him with his clients in his office and finally got my credentials so I can have my own clients. This is my second official year. There are many things I believe set me apart from other preparers, one of those is that I’m not chasing money, I’m actually out here educating my clients and meeting them where they are. This year I’ve had many clients who are years behind in filing their taxes. Although I understand the situations, I truly believe if more people were educated on how filing taxes can be a benefit, more people would file. I want my clients to know that I’m here to educate and maximize your knowledge and your tax refund. I’m not a scammer and I enjoy what I do.
Roomy Realty Investments, is my brother’s company and also offers credit repair, and valuable information on real estate investment properties.

Can you tell us about what’s worked well for you in terms of growing your clientele?
Although technology is a proven method to improve reach and visibility, word of mouth is still the most effective strategy for growing my clientele. I still pass out cards and make my services known wherever I go.

We’d love to hear about how you keep in touch with clients.
Following up with clients is very important throughout the tax process so I keep lines of communication open throughout the year in case I’m needed.
