We recently connected with Suanny Garcia and have shared our conversation below.
Suanny, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Alright, so we’d love to hear about how you got your first client or customer. What’s the story?
I actually had two meaningful ‘first clients,’ each significant in their own way. The first was the initial sale of my digital course, which I created to help business owners get press coverage. Having never sold a digital product before, seeing that first sale come in was such an exciting milestone, and it showed me that people trusted my expertise enough to invest in it.
My first one-on-one client came shortly after, through a free workshop I hosted for a group of women. She was not only my first coaching client, but also an incredible one to start with, which made the experience even more rewarding.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
I call myself a media girlie because I’ve worked in so many sides of media. I’m currently a media strategist and author focused on helping people shape brand narratives. But my career was built by working in public relations as well as editorial. I did travel & hospitality PR for years, and then went on to becoming editor-in-chief for a major Latino platform; in the midst of that I also wrote a book about millennial Latinas, “The New Latina.”
Today, I offer media education, consulting, and strategy through my programs, including my signature course, The Media Muse Method, where I teach business owners how to land their own press and write for online publications. I also work closely with clients through mentorship and strategy sessions, helping them refine their voice, develop strong story angles, and position themselves for media opportunities. Beyond PR, I’m a writer at heart, and my own writing explores themes of Latinidad, spirituality, and entrepreneurship, especially what it means to build a life and identity in your 30s.
At the core, I help people solve a visibility problem, but more importantly, a clarity problem. Many of my clients don’t struggle with talent; they struggle with articulation. They don’t know how to translate their experiences into stories that resonate publicly. I help them bridge that gap in a way that feels authentic, strategic, and aligned with the brand they actually want to build.
What I’m most proud of is the way my work empowers people to move differently. Clients leave not just with press wins, but with a stronger sense of self and a clearer understanding of how to advocate for their ideas.

What’s a lesson you had to unlearn and what’s the backstory?
When you build a business, you soon realize you’re not only building your business but you’re building yourself. You are the most important part of your business. If you don’t show up for your business, you’ll hear crickets. But when you do, you’ll see movement.
Building something has been a huge lesson for me in self-growth as well as self-worth. Like many business owners do, at the beginning I undercharged my services by a lot. I think undercharging is a hard lesson to unlearn, especially as a Latina when we are always taught to just be grateful for opportunities and avoid rattling anything by asking for more. I am now confident in asking for what I deserve and making sure any work I take on is beneficial for both parties, but it was a hard lesson for me to learn.

What do you think helped you build your reputation within your market?
What I think really set me apart was that I had actually lived the experience I was teaching. Everything in my course came from things I had personally done, not just studied or observed. There are a lot of people selling programs online who don’t have real, hands-on experience in what they’re teaching, and I wanted to make sure I wasn’t one of them. That authenticity resonated with people, and I believe it’s a big part of why they trusted me.
