Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Street Product. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Street, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Can you talk to us about a risk you’ve taken – walk us through the story?
I wouldn’t really say it’s a big risk or a small risk but one of the most consistent that I take is investing in my music. Me and friends us this term, you pay what you weigh. That just says you get what you give. Once I started to stop low balling my craft financially, my views started going up, my streams and downloads started going up, I started getting booked for paid events. So basically I just went all with putting my money in the right places and now I’m reaping the benefits and reward.
Street, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I go by the name Street Product from Washington, DC. I am a artist/ songwriter. I would categorize my sound as more of a soulful, poetic lyricist with a melodic voice that will make a choir cry. I come from a football background so music was the last thing on my mind until my cousin Lightshow started to gain a buzz and really become this star that I’ve never seen personally. I’ve never met a professional football player so seeing him on his rise was more impactful at the moment as a teen and I wanted that. One of the biggest problems I had was finding my sound and mastering it. Making sure I create a sound that is natural and comfortable for me and also creating a sound that is unique and never to be and I’m just really getting comfortable with one consistent sound. One thing I’m super proud about is that I’m blessed to make music that people can relate to, make music that help people through their trials and tribulations. I feel like not everyone can do that. I can say I’m the voice of the people. My name Street Product simply means being the product of who you really are, staying true to yourself and were your story on your sleeve. That’s the message I put out in music and that’s what I represent.

Let’s talk about resilience next – do you have a story you can share with us?
Being a artist you got to understand that you will be told no a lot more than being told yes, you are going to have people that don’t like your music, and all businesses you come across is not going to good business. I dropped a single and it was a different vibe from what I’m use to dropping. Me team and I went to every club in DC trying to get it played in the club and nobody was playing it until we got a break at this restaurant that played it for me because I knew one of the waiters. It was one of the DJ’s that told me no in the restaurant eating his food and he seen how the people was reacting to it and now he plays it everywhere he goes and also sent it out on a Dj blast to all the DJ’s in the city.

We’d love to hear the story of how you built up your social media audience?
I built my audience through my visuals/ music videos. I got really good at writing treating and directing my own videos til it became a thing that people just known me for. Make the quality good and you learn the proper times where as though the algorithm is up on social media. Also invest in promotion and ads That always work if you are targeting the audience that are already active on your page.
