Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Stephanie Jacobs. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Alright, Stephanie thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Before we get into specifics, let’s talk about success more generally. What do you think it takes to be successful?
I think that we have gotten wrong what it means to be successful in our country. Ones success in United States is based on money, possessions, and job status. As a former educator in public schools, I have seen the backlash this thought process has on our students. Personally I believe that success is feeling comfortable standing up for others, speaking ones mind, and being content with what they have.
Stephanie, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I am a former educator with a masters in Art Education. I had always been interested in design and interiors. After having my first child, I realized I wanted to change career paths. My company opened in 2017 as Staged by Stephanie, primarily focusing on staging homes going on the market. My business quickly transformed to encompass all aspects of design including decorating, renovations, custom window treatments and staging. The current company name, SBS Designs, now reflects our range of services. I am the former President of the local Atlanta Chapter for the Real Estate Staging Association and holds the RESA Pro designation.
I am proud with how quickly my business transformed and has grown in the past five years. I believe that my years and background in education has helped me communicate with clients and educate them on different areas of their projects. Although not every project goes as planned, I strive to walk away with happy clients that refer me to their friends and family.
We’d love to hear the story of how you built up your social media audience?
Our business has thrived due to Facebook and Instagram. Facebook, has played a major roll in our business. I receive many referrals through various groups geared towards moms, and communities in my area. To be the “go to” name that pops up multiple time when someone is asking for a stager or decorator, has played a major roll in our growth.
Instagram, has helped my business also due to the visual aspect of the platform. We often tell prospective clients to look at our instagram account @sbsdesignsatl to see our most recent work. It’s easy to post from our phone when we are at an install, instead of remembering to do in when we get back to our desk.
We’d love to hear about how you keep in touch with clients.
We want our clients to look around their home and remember that we helped them find happiness in the place they live. Doing a great job and making sure clients are happy when we finish, helps instill brand loyalty. Our goal is to keep having our clients always come back for more. We also send a bi- monthly email campaign with tips and tricks. Our clients that we’ve worked with throughout the year receive a unique holiday gift from SBS designs as well.
