We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Stefano Iaboni a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Stefano thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Let’s start with a fun one – what’s something you believe that most people in your industry (or in general) disagree with?
In many professional settings, there’s a longstanding belief that business is all about being serious, efficient, and focused, and that humor or laughter has no place in the workplace. People often view humor as a distraction or even as unprofessional. But I firmly believe that business and laughter can, and should, coexist.
Humor can be a powerful tool in fostering creativity, building stronger relationships, and even improving productivity. When we laugh together, we break down barriers and create an atmosphere of trust. Laughter promotes a sense of camaraderie, which can lead to better communication, stronger collaboration, and improved morale. It can also reduce stress and increase overall well-being, which ultimately benefits the company.
In fact, some of the most successful companies in the world—like Google, Pixar, and Zappos—are known for having fun, promoting a playful culture, and encouraging laughter in the workplace. They understand that a little humor doesn’t diminish professionalism; it actually enhances it by making people feel more comfortable, engaged, and connected.
I believe that if we embrace laughter as part of the business environment, we can create more innovative, dynamic, and resilient teams. So, while many may still think of business as a serious, no-nonsense world, I believe that laughter is an essential ingredient for success.

Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?
Over the last 15 years, I’ve had the privilege of building a career as a full-time comedic performer, bringing laughter to audiences across Europe, the Middle East, and North America. Time and again, I’ve seen firsthand how laughter breaks down barriers, builds connections, and sparks joy in diverse settings and cultures. One pivotal moment that shaped my understanding of laughter’s true power was a tour with Clowns Without Borders in Syria in 2007. Performing for communities facing extreme hardship, I saw that laughter wasn’t just a fleeting moment of joy—it was a bridge to resilience, unity, and hope.
This insight became deeply personal when, years later, I faced my own health crisis. Diagnosed with cancer, I found myself on the receiving end of life’s curveballs. Instead of succumbing to despair, I leaned into what I knew best: humor. During treatment, I made a conscious choice to laugh through the fear and use comedy to lift my spirits. Laughter, even in those hard times, was my guide to resilience.
Today, as I bring laughter into the corporate world, my focus is on helping teams access that same power. Laughter is a dynamic tool for resilience in the face of challenges, for bonding that builds genuine trust, and for creativity that thrives on openness and play. In an environment where teams often face high stress and the pressure to innovate, laughter acts as both a relief and a catalyst. My sessions give teams the opportunity to connect deeply, unlock fresh ideas, and face change with a resilient mindset. Laughter saved my life—and in the workplace, it has the power to transform teams and spark growth in ways that go far beyond the moment.

Where do you think you get most of your clients from?
The best source of new clients for me has hands down been word of mouth and referrals. I like to think it’s because my workshops and team-building sessions leave a lasting impression—literally. People don’t just walk away with a few icebreakers; they leave with stronger bonds and a whole new understanding of the power of laughter and creativity in the workplace.
Most of my clients came from someone saying, ‘You have to experience this!’ When a session is memorable enough to inspire someone to recommend it to a friend, colleague, or fellow CEO, that’s the highest compliment I could ask for. I’ve found that HR managers, CEOs, and teams in the tech and creative industries especially love recommending my work, because it speaks to their goals around well-being, innovation, and connection. It’s like a ripple effect—one great experience sparks many more.
So really, word of mouth is more than just a marketing strategy for me; it’s a testament to the impact laughter and creativity can have in transforming team dynamics and productivity
