We recently connected with Stef Anderson and have shared our conversation below.
Stef , thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. So, let’s start with trends – what are some of the largest or more impactful trends you are seeing in the industry?
It’s no secret that social media and trends go hand-in-hand: trending audios, content, creators, brands–the list goes on and on! While tracking and leveraging trends is essential for both brands and creators, relying on them exclusively unfortunately isn’t the answer for long-term, sustainable success.
When users log onto a social platform, they are inundated with content, often to the point of being overwhelmed. To stand out, brands must build trust by sharing genuine, thoughtful, and valuable content on a consistent basis. This allows audiences to rely on them for information—sometimes before they even realize they’re seeking it out. A successful social strategy requires a full-funnel approach that blends educational, aspirational, and occasionally even controversial content to cultivate a loyal following. From there, trends can be used strategically to complement existing messaging and content pillars rather than serving as the foundation of a brand’s presence. Chasing a singular viral moment is not a strategy; building a sustainable, engaged community is.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
My name is Stef Anderson and I’m the founder of Social by Stef, a social media consulting agency that helps brands refine their digital presence through highly strategic, innovative content. With over eight years of experience on the agency side and more than five years as a creator, I like to think I bring a unique perspective to the table that effectively blends high-level strategy with real-time trends.
I started Social by Stef with a clear mission: to support brands I’m passionate about by encouraging them to not just show up on social media, but to truly stand out. I know that for many businesses, social media can feel overwhelming—what to post, how to grow, and even just where to start. I work with a diverse range of clients—from food and beverage companies to nonprofit organizations—and specialize in branding, marketing, and content strategies designed to grow online communities and turn social media into a powerful business tool. I wholeheartedly believe that content should be exciting, not exhausting. Consumers are incredibly in tune and can tell when social feels like a chore. My passion lies in ensuring that social media remains an inspiring, engaging part of every business I work with.

How’d you build such a strong reputation within your market?
My reputation in the social media industry has been built on a combination of deep industry knowledge and firsthand experience—both behind the scenes and in front of the camera. After years of driving social and influencer strategy for some of the largest global corporations, I wanted to put my expertise to the test in a real, hands-on way. This led me to launch my own social media channels in 2020, initially as a passion project.
What started as a hobby quickly turned into a business, and in just the past year I grew my audience by over 20,000 followers and a combined 60,000 overall. This experience gave me a unique perspective—not just as a strategist, but as a creator navigating the platforms myself. It also allowed me to form strong partnerships with brands in an authentic and impactful way.
Many of my clients today started as brand collaborations through my own content. After working together and seeing firsthand the strategy, creativity, and results I bring to the table, they decided to bring me on as part of their team. I like to think that the organic evolution—from creator partnerships to full-scale strategy and consulting—has been a testament to the trust I’ve built in this space.

What’s worked well for you in terms of a source for new clients?
Social media is something I’m thinking about, posting on, or learning more about day in and day out– and almost 100% of my clients have come from social media or referrals. I practice what I preach by creating content centered around my passion for social media marketing and helping brands grow which prospective clients often see and inquire about.
