Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Stacy Snyder. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Stacy , appreciate you joining us today. What’s been the most meaningful project you’ve worked on?
Currently, one of the most meaningful projects I’m working on is called “Regression.” It’s a captivating horror story infused with important messages about friendship, mortality, and self-acceptance – all wrapped up in the scares and twists people want out of a mainstream horror film. The script, beautifully crafted by my producing partner Melissa Vitello, reveals deeper layers to the characters, the narrative, and the overall arc with each read. “Regression” is a thrilling and thought-provoking journey that will have audiences talking.
Being able to leverage my creative abilities both as an actor and a producer on “Regression” is truly an honor. I’m grateful for the opportunity to embody a character that is both rich and complex, allowing me to delve deep into her world and fully immerse myself in the narrative. I am eager to show the world the depth and authenticity of “Regression.”
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
Of course! I’m an actor, producer, and proud co-founder of Mooncastle Films, a production company dedicated to highlighting the talents of women and historically excluded groups in the entertainment industry. My passion for storytelling and the captivating space film can bring us into has been a driving force throughout my life, and I’ve always known that acting was my calling.
My journey started with local theater and independent film during my school years, culminating in a B.F.A. in Theatre Performance from Chapman University in California. As my acting career developed in Los Angeles, I found myself cast in successful horror films that made waves at festivals. Despite being a bit of a scaredy-cat (who actually screams out loud in the theater), I developed a deep appreciation for the genre and its ability to convey profound messages. The horror community is incredibly generous and engaged, and I love being a part of it.
Driven by a desire for more creative engagement, to be in the driver’s seat of my career, I ventured into the realm of producing feature films. Rather than waiting to be cast in the roles I yearned to play, I wanted to actively be in the creative process from beginning to end, crafting opportunities for myself and others that resonated with my vision. From there, Mooncastle Films was born.
Mooncastle Films stands out for our unwavering commitment to amplifying diverse voices and telling unique, engaging stories. We’re dedicated to breaking barriers and delivering impactful messages through the unique lens of horror.
Any resources you can share with us that might be helpful to other creatives?
I wish I had recognized the significance of networking when I first set out. Talent alone is not a guarantee of success. Simply auditioning isn’t going to cut it. Creating and sustaining authentic relationships is a powerful tool in this industry; beyond that, you build a supportive community of incredible people around you.
This can be hard, especially for introverts. But making just one genuine connection at each event will open doors, foster collaborations, and create opportunities as you share professional circles and advice.
Especially looking at the industry through a producer’s lens, genuine connections are the backbone of a thriving career, providing professional support, incredible experiences, and insights.
What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
The profound connection between art and the audience, the bond between actors and the director, is what lights my creative fire. Sharing my work and being witnessed in the creative process is inherently satisfying. Then to learn that my work has positively impacted someone else adds a unique layer of gratification to the creative journey.
