We recently connected with Stacy Johnson and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Stacy thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. How did you come up with the idea for your business?
More than 20 years ago, I took on my first mentee. She was a high-potential student who wasn’t sure she was in the right major. My second mentee was struggling academically and needed a different kind of support. Despite their differences, I found myself guiding both through a similar process: helping them understand who they were and how that connected to where they were headed.
What started as occasional mentoring grew steadily. I went from a couple of mentees a year to several each month, and patterns began to emerge. As an engineer, I naturally started building structure around what I was doing and created templates, tools, and a repeatable process that worked not just for students, but also for early-career professionals trying to find their direction.
The real inflection point came when my own kids and their friends started heading to college. I saw families investing significant money without clear direction on majors or career paths. That didn’t make sense to me. I realized the same process I was using for adults could be adapted earlier, helping students make more confident, informed decisions before they even started.
Today, I guide students and early-career professionals through a structured, personalized process that results in a clear list of majors or career paths and a plan forward. The idea is simple: clarity drives better decisions. When people understand their strengths, values, and interests, what I call their vocational personality, they move forward with confidence and that changes outcomes.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
I am an engineer by degree, with a BS and MS in Mechanical Engineering, and a lifelong passion for helping people find clarity in their paths. Over the past 20 years, I have mentored students and early-career professionals. I work with students and early-career professionals through a structured, hands-on process that results in a clear list of majors or career steps and a practical plan to move forward. What sets my approach apart is that it’s both analytical and personal. I have built templates and frameworks that make the process repeatable, but each plan is tailored to the individual.
One of the most rewarding parts of my work is seeing the transformation in real time. I recently helped a student whose scholarship was at risk because he was failing all his classes. We built a plan together, and today he is excelling. confident, focused, and on track.
I want potential clients and families to know that my goal is simple: to help students and early-career professionals gain the clarity and confidence to make decisions that stick. Starting with a clear direction not only reduces stress, it saves money, minimizes wasted time, and sets them up for long-term success. That is what drives me every day.
We’d love to hear about how you keep in touch with clients.
I stay in touch with clients in a very personal way. Even after our sessions are over, I think about them and look for ways to support their growth. If I see a job listing that fits their skills or an article that aligns with a hobby or interest, I send it their way. I genuinely take their challenges and opportunities to heart. It is not just about completing a program, it is about helping them succeed long after we’ve worked together.

Where do you think you get most of your clients from?
Most of my new clients come through word of mouth through friends, other moms from school or sports activities. I am hopeful that this article will help connect me with even more students and families who could benefit from my work.
