We recently connected with Sophie Gragg and have shared our conversation below.
Sophie, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. What’s been the most meaningful project you’ve worked on?
This a tough one as I love all of our projects and I really get a kick out of all our art shows, but I’d say the most rewarding project I’ve had the privilege to work on was our first Luna and Friends Art Show in LA. What made it so special was the sense of community and collaboration that permeated every aspect of the event. I essentially booked all my favorite DJs, visual artists and creative friends just to come together and showcase their work and have some fun.
Having all my friends and fellow creatives come together to showcase their talent and creativity was incredibly fulfilling. It was more than just an art show; it was a celebration of art, friendship, and the power of collective creativity. Seeing how everyone’s unique skills and perspectives blended seamlessly into a harmonious display of artistry was amazing.
The event not only highlighted the immense talent within our circle but also solidified the bonds of friendship and collaboration that have been at the core of Luna’s mission. It served as a reminder of the incredible things that can be achieved when like-minded individuals unite their creative forces, and for that reason, it remains the most rewarding project I’ve been a part of.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I’m Sophie, the founder of The Luna Collective. My creative career began at USC, where I studied Public Relations and Music Industry, igniting my passion for music and marketing. My sophomore year I started The Luna Collective, which is an online creative platform and magazine with a focus on film photography. We’re dedicated to shining a spotlight on emerging creatives who deserve recognition. What sets us apart is our thriving community, where all kinds of creatives can connect.
We create editorial print magazines, other print projects, curate online content, host online and offline events and do everything in our power to foster a growing and supportive community. Our dedication to the arts and fostering connections is at our core.
In this creative landscape, dedication is key to success. I’ve learned to adapt and overcome obstacles to keep support emerging talents. The Luna Collective is more than a magazine; it’s a vibrant community, dedicated to celebrating artists and fostering creativity.

We often hear about learning lessons – but just as important is unlearning lessons. Have you ever had to unlearn a lesson?
Unlearning perfectionism has been a significant lesson for me to learn. Early on, I held myself to impossibly high standards, constantly seeking flaws in my work and ultimately never being happy with finished products. This obsession with perfection often led to overthinking, stress, and creative stagnation.
It took time to realize that true creativity thrives when we allow ourselves to let loose and simply have fun with our work. I am so lucky to work in such a fun industry. It truly is all for fun! And now that I know that, I try to remind my staff and other peers of this all the time.
I remind myself that creativity should be fun and doesn’t equal perfectionism. It’s a liberating process, not a rigid, anxiety-inducing one. Embracing imperfections and viewing them as opportunities for growth has not only made my work more enjoyable but has also opened doors to unexpected creative breakthroughs.

What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
The most rewarding aspect of being a creative, for me, is the collaborative naturethat drives this field. Working with other creatives and having the opportunity to connect with people from various backgrounds to bring ideas to life is such a blessing.
Whether it’s working with my writing team on an article, a graphic designer on a project or connecting with a musical artist, I just love love love working with our creatives. And I love being able to create opportunities that allow individuals to move forward in their career or just connect with other like minded creators. It’s the human connection, the mutual support, and the joy of collectively bringing something beautiful into the world that makes being a creative so rewarding to me.
