We were lucky to catch up with SHXWN FRESH recently and have shared our conversation below.
Hi SHXWN, thanks for joining us today. It’s always helpful to hear about times when someone’s had to take a risk – how did they think through the decision, why did they take the risk, and what ended up happening. We’d love to hear about a risk you’ve taken.
One of the biggest risk I’ve had to take, was moving to Austin from Louisiana to pursue my music career.
SHXWN, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
Healing from Louisiana, out of the great capital city Baton Rouge. I go by the name of SHXWNFRESH, coming from a deeply spiritual background I started writing poetry at a young age, and switched over into hiphop at the age of 15. Today I’m a studio, recording artist servicing, the great city of Austin, Texas with Fresh MUSIC. I solve the problem of giving my listeners a fresh listen to great music. I’m most proud of the achievements I’ve made through out this journey in Austin HipHop , the problems we face as musicians are real and I’m appreciative of the people that’s rocking with me and showing me love and support
What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
The most rewarding aspect of being an artist is here and feedback from supporters and fans about how my music either change their lives, or put them in a better state of mind.
Learning and unlearning are both critical parts of growth – can you share a story of a time when you had to unlearn a lesson?
A lesson I had to learn, was being able to understand it’s OK to not know everything, and it’s always room for growth and learning as an artist. But in a sense, I feel learning is the best part because it’s so unknown .and getting the knowledge is sweet .
