We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Sherry Rennick a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Sherry, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Let’s start with a story that highlights an important way in which your brand diverges from the industry standard.
Our company was created out of need for businesses and organizations who manage multi location properties to have a centralized service provider of 3D capture services so that anyone from anywhere could visit those properties remotely through an immersive, fully interactive true 3D experience that is served up as a 3D Virtual Tour, 3D Model or accurate Digital Twin. Reality Capture Experts (RCE) is unique to the industry as we also operate a non-profit organization dedicated to industry best practices, training, education, mentorship and networking opportunities.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers
I spent most of my adult years as a wife and stay-at-home mom, raising 4 boys in Southwest Michigan. In Spring of 2015 I had an opportunity to support my 18 year old son Andrew’s new business venture. Right after high school Andrew and a partner began utilizing Matterport 3D hardware and software to create 3D virtual tours for the real estate industry. I started meeting with local businesses and organizations in an effort to develop local business and create a robust sales funnel for the team. In early 2016, Andrew decided to work full time for a local Realtor, leaving the company in care of me! As Matterport 3D technology became more widely known, industries outside of real estate began to take notice and understand that 3D technology and virtual tours were NOT just for looking at homes and apartments. I quickly began to offer services to any industry in need of an accurate 3D model of for any space. My customers included (but were not limited to) construction contractors, builders, showroom managers, inn keepers, commercial real estate brokers, curators, architects, designers and non-profit organizations. In the meantime, online forums and social media groups were a huge support. They offered a means of mentorship and inspiration that enabled me to have the confidence to grow and expand services to any type of customer or industry. It also afforded my the opportunity to network with service providers across the globe. When existing customers began to ask if we could provide services outside of Michigan, our answer was always YES! I had many colleagues I could sub-contract the work to while still servicing the needs of my clients. In 2017 I was fortunate to be included in a group of 3D service providers that wanted to network more intentionally within a smaller group. Dustin Gardner, a fellow Matterport provider from Ohio spearheaded the formation of this group whom he called Reality Capture Experts. Our online group of friends soon enabled Dustin and I to create Reality Capture Experts LLC AND our non-profit, The Reality Capture Experts Network. The LLC was created out of need for businesses and organizations, who manage multi location properties, to have a centralized service provider of 3D capture services so that anyone from anywhere could visit those properties remotely through an immersive, fully interactive true 3D experience that is served up as a 3D Virtual Tour, 3D Model or accurate Digital Twin. What’s worked well for you in terms of a source for new clients?
The best source of new clients for us come from our existing clients and our network of professionals we serve through the non-profit. The RCE LLC is unique to our customers in that there is no other organization that exists as a cohesive group of professionals that actively WORK together within The Network for the greater good of each other and the business and clients that supports them.

What’s been the most effective strategy for growing your clientele?
The most effective strategy for growing our business springs forth from our desire to get the job done, no matter what! The word “no”, is not in our vocabulary. The answer is always “Yes, we can…and this is how”.
