Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Sherrie LaRue. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Alright, Sherrie thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Day to day the world can seem like a tough place, but there’s also so much kindness in the world and we think talking about that kindness helps spread it and make the world a nicer, kinder place. Can you share a story of a time when someone did something really kind for you?
The people of Las Vegas have embraced me and my business with open arms! My designs and ideas have been met with positivity and possibility. This really is a fantastic place to run a business and I am so grateful I took a chance and moved my business to Nevada. This is a place of big dreams and big opportunity, and my client list is growing larger by the day. Local business owners are excited about creative services and unique ideas which makes this area a kind place to call home.
Sherrie, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I always had an interest in art and painting and love to work with people. Starting out in a small town and moving to a worldwide destination city felt like a big step, but I decided to focus on giving every customer a great experience and leave them smiling at the end of our session together. Using only hypo-allergenic paints and special add-ons I try to give every person a fun and unique experience, and a happy memory to capture on camera.
What’s a lesson you had to unlearn and what’s the backstory?
I used to only rely on one of everything: one tent, one cart, one table, one display board etc. but after a few unexpected emergencies, such as strong windstorms breaking my tent, I have learned to always come prepared with two of every crucial item in case of unexpected events.
Any fun sales or marketing stories?
I remember painting a six-year-old boy to look like spiderman at a special event recently, and after he looked in the mirror, he was so happy to look like his hero, that he begged his father to also get painted as spider-man, so they could “match each other.” They both walked away from my tent as a super-hero duo, and the boy was thrilled!
