We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Sherilyn Guerrero a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Sherilyn thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Alright – so having the idea is one thing, but going from idea to execution is where countless people drop the ball. Can you talk to us about your journey from idea to execution?
I believe the start to any creative process is experience and emotion. I think that you have to feel the idea for the motivation to execute the vision properly and so people can understand. I recently came out with a dance visual of just myself and as soon as I heard the song I felt it. It was my jam, my comfort song, the one I was belting out anywhere I was… For that to connect and make me feel a way, I wanted to make a visual that looks good on me and feels good as I was creating. I choreographed and with the lyrics speaking to me, it was easy to curate movement towards it that just felt good. When editing I made sure that the musicality and visuals went with how the music was sounding and interpreting. It came out just the way I had pictured it and more less wanted!

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
My name is Sherilyn Guerrero. I am a third Generation Guerrero, daughter of famous Pro-Wrestler, Eddie Guerrero! Born in El Paso, and moving different places brought me so much insight and new cultures to learn from and sites to see. I got into content creating by first getting into photography which is one of my professional crafts that I interpret into the content that I create. I also do video editing, graphic design and aesthetic content. I chose to do this to inspire people to be more comfortable with documenting moments and themselves. I think that most important thing about content creation is you can take any moment and amplify it in such a beautiful way. I do photography, videography, and content creating for social media. I am mostly proud of all things I have experience with, it makes me a jack of all trades. I am proud to make people feel empowered and seen through a 50-120 mm lens. You can buy my art on Society6.com or schedule a photoshoot with me and I’d love to create something beautiful for you to look back on.

Is there mission driving your creative journey?
My particular goal is to show my talent, as well as show people how I view things through my eyes. People think being born into fame you have it so easy, and I want people to know although I create serene and aesthetically pleasing videos I am just as human and normal as they are, and ANYONE can truly create content that fulfills them and brings them happiness.

Can you tell us about a time you’ve had to pivot?
I used to create clothing and design them, but something in that felt that I was doing it to fill a void that I was not truly ready for. I think that realizing was doing it because I felt I had to put something out drove me away from my creativity. When I stopped that and dove back into my camera, I realize that I can equally create are and put stuff out and it can be printed or viewed in so many different ways. That was a true pivot point, starting something, I wasn’t truly and fully in with my heart, only for it to lead me to find what I truly love doing.
