We were lucky to catch up with Shenita Sanders recently and have shared our conversation below.
Shenita , thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today We’d love to hear the backstory behind a risk you’ve taken – whether big or small, walk us through what it was like and how it ultimately turned out.
One of the biggest and best risks I have taken so far is opening a spiritual and energy healing practice during a global pandemic. I walked away from earning a secure income to risking it all for wanting to be of service to others in my own unique way. I knew in my heart that what I have to offer is beautiful, needed, and impactful. So after many hours of prayer and meditation, I took the leap forward and haven’t looked back. I am very proud of myself for listening to my inner guidance and walking in courage to live out this version of my highest and truest self.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
I am an empath and highly sensitive person that has found her way out of the darkness to live an abundant life. My mission is to help others do the same.
Life can become overwhelming as an empath or highly sensitive person. The energy that you absorb from other people can get the best of you. Your heart is calling you to give, but you don’t feel as if others give to you in the same way. One of the more difficult lessons for empaths to innerstand is, you can’t expect you from other people. This is why making yourself a priority is critical to your wellbeing.
What I love most about my work is helping people to rediscover their strengths and joy for living. They come to learn that taking care of yourself isn’t selfish. Instead, it is self-full. Especially, if you are someone who desires to be of service to others. Making yourself a priority and meeting your own needs first just helps you to be more effective at what you love to do. Many people that reach out to me for coaching express feeling out of balance with the world around them. So many changes are happening that they are not sure how they fit in or how to show up in authentic ways. So my success with clients is helping them to really get to know and accept themselves on a more intimate level.
My coaching process is to encourage clients to authentically connect with me and themselves. Clarify any misunderstandings or limited beliefs that are causing an imbalance in their lives. Then guide clients in creating the vision they set for themselves. My compassionate and judge-free approach promotes safety and provides an encouraging environment for clients to flourish.
Another service I offer at Future Focused Coaching and Wellness is Sound Therapy. Sound Therapy is an ancient meditative practice that uses various instruments like frosted crystal bowls, Tibetan Bowls, gongs, drums, voice, and chimes to help clients relax, improve focus, decrease stress, and improve sleep quality. My clients enjoy their sessions because its a time when they get to turn the world off and just be still. The powerful tones, frequencies, and vibrations work to break up any blocked energy within the body which allows the client to walk away feeling refreshed and at peace.
Over the years, what I have heard from clients is, “you really helped me to get my life back. I feel freer in ways I didn’t know possible.” It’s great knowing that you are successful in reflecting your clients beauty back to them and they embrace and own their beauty.
I believe what makes me unique as a Spiritual coach and master sound therapist, is my ability to establish a meaningful and intuitive connection with others. My goal with everyone I meet is to look for the beauty in everyone so that I can quickly reflect it back to them. We all want to know that we matter and that who we are as a person is good enough. This is a self-care practice I started with myself over 20 years ago. It has provided me and my clients great success in overcoming personal challenges. I sincerely believe that compassion is the cornerstone to healing. Being compassionate and loving with yourself are the keys to abundant living.

Putting training and knowledge aside, what else do you think really matters in terms of succeeding in your field?
What has helped me to succeed in my business is leading by example. I strive to be a transparent and authentic leader. No one lives a struggle free life. Every one has problems to work through. That includes me. My goal is to be honest about it and share with others my journey. No fake super spiritual facade. Just raw and honest moments from a person who continues on her road to healing.
One of my spiritual teachers taught me, “Words don’t teach. Allow your actions to inspire others to do what is necessary for them in their lives.” It’s great advice that I have lived by for many years now and has served me well. My clients feel that we are two unique individuals having a human experience that can learn and help heal each other. People want to know that you truly understand them, connect with them, and accept them just as they are, and when you are successful at doing those things, then miracles happen. Love and compassion does the healing. I’m just fortunate to be a loving guide in your journey.

What’s a lesson you had to unlearn and what’s the backstory?
As an empath, I love being of service to others. I would give, give, give so much that I wasn’t taking care of my own needs. It caused me to harbor a great deal of resentment because I thought the people in my life would give to me as I gave to them. I grew up believing that to be a good person, I had to put others first. Well, I was too good at that and it took its toll on my mental, spirutal, and physical health. Fast forward many years later, It took me a lot of time and practice to learn how to respect myself and prioritize my wellbeing. Now my beliefs make room for my wellbeing. I believe that it’s important for me to take good care of myself first so that I can fully show up for others in service and love. My needs are met and I give to others from my overflow.
