We recently connected with Sheila Vaske and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Sheila thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Let’s kick things off with your mission – what is it and what’s the story behind why it’s your mission?
Through the hardships, struggles and near death experiences, I was able to heal physically, mentally and spiritually. I always felt different as a young child, and still do today, however, what I’ve learned now as an adult is to truly embrace who I am and use
the lessons I’ve learned in order to share it with others. I believe we ALL have the capability to become better and heal, no matter what the situation is. It simply takes a “decision and willingness “ to do so.
It took many years to realize the true calling, meaning and purpose in my life. My mission is to share the tools I used and discovered along with some of my stories with others in an effort to guide and teach them to do the same in all facets of their life.
A simple, yet effective way to helping others become their very best selves!
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your background and context?
My story began when at the of 11 I was diagnosed with a very rare disease and was told I had about 5 years to live. I was told I would have no function of my right hand or arm, and needed to learn to be left handed. In fact I was a case study at Boston children
hospital after becoming diagnosed.
However, one day as a freshman in high school, my health teacher discussed a topic that would completely change my life forever! This particular day he discussed how powerful our minds are. He taught me that, ultimately, our minds control and dictate our outcomes
regardless of what situation we are faced with. What we think, believe and give power to will manifest, whether it be good or bad, and ultimately will have power over us.
This hit me so hard that day. So much so, that I made a huge decision that day and never looked back. I decided that from that moment on, I would no longer give the disease or the diagnosis another minute of my attention…. Never!
I began by not talking about it any more. Not feeling sorry for myself or asking “why me”. I simply pretended I didn’t have it, and blocked it out of my mind. Next, I began working out. Basically, in the beginning I did what I realize is called physical therapy today. Squeezing a ball every day as much as I could until I could begin to close my hand all the way. Before this I could barely move my fingers. Once I was able to that, I joined a gym, and would work out every day. Lifting weights, jogging and so on. I also worked 3 jobs throughout high school to help keep myself busy.
It didn’t take very long before my arm began healing. I had regained full function and mobility and even the scarring ( because it had looked like I was badly burned) was extremely reduced and began to look normal. To this very day, it still looks great! And I turned 50 this year!
I also made.a conscious decision then, that I would go in to live a full life and do whatever I wanted to do. What I didn’t realize at the time, was how I was healing not just myself but others that would come into my life. I was a super manifester and a very
positive person with a pretty positive attitude and spirit. I owned a restaurant in my twenties, sold real estate, worked in and out of the restaurant industry, traveled and moved a lot! I basically desired to live life to my fullest as much as could. I EMBRACED
and was always up for change. In fact, I desired change, especially if an opportunity presented itself to me.
Fast forward to my mid to late thirties. I now had two daughters and was basically a stay at home mom. I was in a marriage that unfortunately wasn’t going very well and I had no idea how I would be able to get divorced and manage to be a full time parent to
two children with grueling schedules, while working a full time job, especially without a college degree.
So, one day I made another decision. This time it was to begin to create a relationship with God. I began waking up between 4-5 am every morning and began journaling, meditating and praying. I did this consistently, as I still do today. And what I began to
realize was that I could feel the calling, hear and began to see signs everywhere. If I asked for signs, they were given to me, and my faith grew stronger and stronger. I knew my mind had and holds all the power. If I can keep my mind in a powerful and positive
mindset, positive and wonderful things would happen.
This led me to starting another company. I began making bracelets and at the time, just would carry them with me, and my friends and family began purchasing them. To my surprise, people began commenting on them all the time, but what they were saying were things like… “ I don’t know what you do to these bracelets, but I feel so good when I wear them” or “ if I forget to put my bracelet on, I end up having a bad day,”, and “ so many great things are happening since I’ve been wearing your bracelets “ … this is when I started to do more research on what it was that was making this happen. It was here I realized that I made them with love, and I was intending to make people heal and feel good. This realization led to my former company… which was called V’Enza. It was an inspirational brand of jewelry and accessories that had purpose and meaning and intended to inspire, motivate and heal all who wore or used them. And it really was amazing the stories that I received from so many people, as well as the experiences I had.
My spiritual journey also became so much clearer and deeper. Everything I had created or done was led to me through my relationship with God, and I received these messages through my journaling, praying and meditations. My intuition became so strong. And my
mindful practices were not just changing my life but all those around me and those I would come in contact with.
Fast forward again to 2019 and 2020. The world changed… dramatically. Just as I was about to finally launch my company on a national level the “Plandemic” happened. The result was losing my company and everything I had worked for the past nine years. I was
devastated, and lost. I had birthed this brand, raised it and was just about to see the fruits of my labor come to life and in a moment, it was gone. I went through a period of time of depression, anger, resentment and even lost my faith for a bit.
This also caused me to become very Sick. Like near death sickness. Once again, I realized that I needed to make another decision if I was going to survive. I must get my mind back to a good place first and foremost, so I could get my soul back. In order to get there, I needed to get back to my basics of waking up again everyday and giving myself that time to journal, pray and meditate. Once again, the clarity came back, the signs and the calling became extremely clear to me. I rediscovered my faith again, this time even stronger than before.
I had wanted to write a book for 18 years. Now was the time. I could still stay true to my life’s purpose and I could do so without the jewelry or accessories. I will write a book and create an experience that can resonate with anyone at any age. Keeping it simple. I felt a book was not enough. Many of us read books that are intended to inspire us, however, it’s what you do after that consistently that matters. Just like training to be fit or run a marathon, you must work on it every single day. So I decided to create a deck of cards and a journal that went along with them.
The cards have a quote of the day, and then simple exercises that you can do that day. The journal was created to hold you accountable for completing the exercises. However, another thing that I learned through my last experiences, was that, most people either
do not know HOW to journal and if it was something that required too much time and effort, consistency would be lost and everything will sit on a shelf somewhere. It was very important for me to create something that creates an experience in order to help
guide one to change their lives and mindsets. One of which will be simple to do, and not require much time or effort. Simply 5-10 minutes per day. I also know that if one can start with that, and begin to see results, they are more opt to stay consistent and
even desire to continue as a daily practice on their own.
This “experience” is intended for ALL. But I will say that the target audience I am MOST passionate about, is our younger generation. Children to young adults. Since technology has been their norm in life, they are struggling with so many things at an all time high. Anxiety, depression, suicide and entitlement. They are struggling with communication skills and lacking empathy. I believe it is not their fault… I believe technology and todays education have stolen their senses. They do not use the 5 God given senses that we were born with. These were created for us in an effort to survive and make decisions. As well as giving intuition. The old “trust your gut”. They do not know how because they do not understand what that even is anymore. This generation is the future, and we need to save them now! This is my main drive and purpose of these tools and I believe I’ve been sent here to do so.
That being said, I also want to emphasize that at the end of the day, we are humans. Which means we are all imperfect. We all have faults, negative tendencies and qualities. ME included. I am far from perfect, and struggle myself with many different faults. But, what I can say and promise is that it takes daily practices and efforts as well as daily reminders to try to be and become the best versions of ourselves. And even though we will fall and fail sometimes, it’s ok. Just get back up and keep on trying.
It’s not meant for us to BE perfect human beings, but it is meant to consciously try our best in order to GIVE our best to ourselves and others… ALWAYS. when one person can change, they can inspire at least 3-5 others to do so as well. This vibration has the power to change the entire trajectory in our world.
What do you think helped you build your reputation within your market?
When I began my former company, I never wanted to be the face of it. As I tried growing the company, there was something lacking. I would do photo shoots each quarter to use for social media, but I never wanted to be photographed.
I’ll never forget when all of a sudden it was like 3-4 people within a week that called me out on this. They all said the same thing. “Sheila, YOU are the brand”. People are not just buying them because they like them, they re buying them because of YOU and
what you stand for. “
This hit hard. But, in all actuality they were right. I’ll never forget how awkward I was on my first photo shoot. I was so scared to do my videos or post pictures of myself because I felt egotistical and didn’t want it to be about me, I wanted it to be about
the purpose instead. But once I let that fear go, and became the face of my brand, everything changed for the better. People were buying into me and what I stood for. That was difficult but I’m glad I made that leap. I wouldn’t have had the courage to engage
or build my audience otherwise. Nor would I have had the confidence to write the books and talk and express my purpose and mission as I do now.
Can you open up about how you funded your business?
When I lost the company and wanted to start writing the book, I needed to hire a publisher. This would cost me money and money I didn’t have at the time. In fact, one of the biggest struggles I faced my last twenty years or so was money. I felt I had a fear
of becoming successful, fear of money being “evil” and a mindset that I was not deserving enough to earn a good income or become successful.
When I signed that contract with my publisher, I had no idea how I would pay for it. After losing the company, no college degree, or experience at my age to figure out what career or job I could qualify for. So I began bartending and waitressing. This was an industry that I was always comfortable and experienced with. But, what I didn’t realize is that my body and my soul were not in that place any longer. I was disrespected by management and it made feel awful. I ended up getting sick again, and had to have emergency surgery and was out of work for about a week. To my surprise, when I was ready to go back, they had let me go. I was in shock and couldn’t believe it. But, once again, God had a better plan. He always does.
I sat back and prayed. Within a few days it hit me. I was extremely valuable! All the experiences I’ve gone through and all I’ve done had given me so much knowledge which was worth a lot of money.
So I began my online search for a new a career, however, I put a salary or income of what I felt my worth was. Which I honestly never made or received. That brought me down to a few options, one of which was a career that allowed me to use my creativity…. And now making more than I’ve ever made in my life, and has afforded me to pay my publisher with ease. Get out of all my debt and actually have money in my back account!
Moral of the story, don’t sell yourself short. Know your worth. Your experience is extremely valuable and so are you.
