We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Shay Bacani. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Shay below.
Hi Shay, thanks for joining us today. So, folks often look at a successful business and think it became a success overnight – but that often obscures all the nitty, gritty details of everything that went into the growth phase of your business. We’d love to hear about your scaling story and how you scaled up?
When I first started my CFO firm, I knew that building long-term relationships with clients and providing exceptional customer service would be the keys to scaling up. I focused on creating a quality customer experience that went above and beyond what my clients expected, and I made sure that each and every one felt like they were my top priority.
By putting my clients first, I was able to build a strong reputation for excellence, and word of mouth quickly spread. I attracted like-minded clients who valued the same things I did, and as a result, my business began to grow. But it wasn’t just about attracting new clients – it was also about retaining them.
To keep my clients happy and coming back, I focused on building strong, long-term relationships. I made sure that I was always available to answer their questions and address their concerns, and I worked hard to understand their unique needs and goals. By doing this, I was able to provide tailored solutions that truly made a difference in their businesses.
Of course, there were obstacles and challenges along the way. I made mistakes and faced unexpected twists and turns, but I always stayed true to my core values of customer service and relationship building. And through it all, I learned that the most important thing is to never lose sight of what’s truly important – the clients.
Today, my firm is significantly larger than when I first started, and I attribute that growth to my unwavering commitment to quality customer service and long-term relationship building. If you’re looking to scale up your own business, my advice is to focus on what matters most – your customers. By providing exceptional service and building strong relationships, you can create a foundation for long-term growth and success.

Shay, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I’m a CFO and financial consultant with a passion for helping female founders take control of their finances and achieve their business goals. My love for numbers began at a young age, watching my parents excel in their careers in the financial industry. My father worked at the Chicago Stock Exchange, exposing me to wealth management at an early age, while my mother worked in Corporate Accounting, instilling in me a deep understanding and appreciation for businesses and numbers.
After working in Corporate Accounting for over half a decade, I launched my own virtual CFO firm, Centure Financial. We provide education, consulting, and financial management services for multiple six and seven figure brands. Our core mission is to empower women in business to become true rulers of their financial destinies.

I’m most proud of the impact we’ve had on our clients’ lives and businesses. By providing them with the financial tools, resources, and education they need to succeed, we’ve helped countless female founders grow their businesses and achieve unprecedented success.

We work closely with our clients, getting to know their businesses inside and out, and providing tailored solutions that meet their unique needs. We are passionate about empowering women to thrive in the world of business.

What’s worked well for you in terms of a source for new clients?
The best source of new clients for my business has been a combination of word of mouth and social media. By focusing on providing a quality customer experience and building strong relationships with my clients, I have been able to generate a steady stream of referrals from satisfied customers.
Additionally, social media has been a game changer for me. Platforms like Instagram and TikTok have allowed me to connect with my target audience by sharing valuable insights on how to improve their finances and grow their business.
By consistently engaging with and informing my audience, I have been able to attract new clients and expand my reach. Overall, I believe that a combination of exceptional service and strategic social media marketing has been the key to my success in attracting new clients.
How do you keep in touch with clients and foster brand loyalty?
Building and maintaining strong relationships with my clients is a top priority for me. I use various communication channels such as email, text, and social media to keep in touch and stay up to date. By getting to know my clients on a personal level, I’m able to better understand their unique needs and provide tailored solutions to help them achieve their goals.
To foster brand loyalty, I believe in rewarding my clients for their trust and loyalty. For example, I send them personalized gifts on their birthdays as a gesture of appreciation. Additionally, I have a referral program that incentivizes them to share about my business with their network. By putting my clients first and focusing on building genuine relationships, I’ve been able to cultivate a loyal following and establish a strong reputation in the industry.
