We recently connected with Shavannah Moore and have shared our conversation below.
Shavannah , thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Alright, so you had your idea and then what happened? Can you walk us through the story of how you went from just an idea to executing on the idea
I didn’t start with a perfect business plan or a room full of resources, I started with a story, a vision, a calling, and a deep desire to create impact from the pain and experiences I had lived through.
For years, I was the person people came to for encouragement, perspective, and guidance, but I didn’t immediately recognize that those natural gifts could become a business. I knew I had a voice, but I had to learn how to position it. The idea really began when I realized that my journey of overcoming insecurity, trauma, rejection, financial hardship, and feeling overlooked wasn’t something to hide. It was the very thing that connected me to people.
Once that clicked, I became obsessed with personal development, mindset, storytelling, and understanding how people build influence. I spent countless hours researching, studying successful entrepreneurs, attending events, investing in mentorship, and learning how to package my experiences into something that could truly serve others.
The transition from idea to execution looked like a lot of trial and error in the beginning. I started showing up before I felt fully ready. I began speaking at events, sharing my story online, hosting workshops, coaching clients, and creating content consistently even when I didn’t have everything figured out yet. I had to learn how to build a brand, market myself, create offers, structure programs, network intentionally, and develop the confidence to walk into rooms I once felt unqualified for.
What many people don’t see is that execution required me to first shift my identity. I had to stop seeing myself as “just someone with a story” and start seeing myself as a leader, a CEO, and an expert with valuable experiences and solutions to offer.
Over time, that consistency evolved into Moore Than Coaching and the work I do today through speaking, storytelling, media, coaching, and leadership development. Looking back, the biggest lesson I learned is that clarity doesn’t always come before action sometimes clarity is created through action. Every opportunity, every room, every risk, and every “yes” helped shape the vision into what it is today.

Shavannah , before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I Am Shavannah Speaks Moore, and I am a transformational storyteller, speaker, actress, emcee, and CEO of Moore Than Coaching, a personal development and storytelling brand focused on helping individuals use their voice, story, and experiences to create impact, influence, and income.
My journey into this work was born from my own life experiences. I grew up battling insecurity, rejection, financial hardship, and seasons where I felt unseen and unheard. For a long time, I viewed my story as something to overcome privately rather than something that could empower others publicly. But over time, I realized the very experiences I once tried to hide were the same experiences that allowed people to connect with me on a deeper level.
That realization changed everything.
I began studying communication, storytelling, leadership, branding, personal development, and human behavior, and I discovered that many people are incredibly gifted but struggle to articulate their value, own their voice, or confidently position themselves. That became the foundation of my work.
Today, I help entrepreneurs, leaders, organizations, and emerging speakers transform their stories into tools for visibility, authority, healing, and leadership. Through keynote speaking, coaching, storytelling intensives, media training, workshops, digital products, and my signature frameworks like S.T.O.R.I.™ and Ready Set Speak™, I teach people how to communicate with clarity, confidence, and authenticity.
What sets me apart is that I don’t just teach storytelling from a theoretical perspective… I’ve lived it. I understand what it feels like to rebuild your confidence, redefine your identity, and walk into rooms where you once felt unqualified. My work combines strategy with transformation. I help people not only communicate better but truly see themselves differently.
I’m most proud of the impact my story and voice have had on others. Whether speaking on stages, coaching clients, hosting events, acting in film, or mentoring emerging leaders, my mission is always the same: to help people realize that their story has power and that their voice deserves to be heard.
Beyond the accolades, media appearances, and opportunities, I want people to know that my brand is rooted in authenticity, purpose, and service. I believe storytelling is one of the most powerful tools we have, not just for business or branding, but for healing, connection, leadership, and legacy.

We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.
One of the greatest examples of resilience in my journey was learning how to rebuild my confidence and identity after years of feeling overlooked, unheard, and underestimated.
There was a season in my life where I was struggling internally while still trying to show up externally. I had experienced rejection, financial hardship, self-doubt, and moments where I questioned whether my voice or story truly mattered. On paper, I may have looked capable, but internally I was battling the belief that I wasn’t enough.
What made that season difficult was that I couldn’t “outwork” the internal narrative I had about myself. I realized that no opportunity, title, or accomplishment could fully transform my life until I transformed the way I saw myself.
Instead of allowing those experiences to silence me, I made the decision to heal, grow, and use my story as fuel instead of shame. I invested heavily into personal development, communication, and understanding how to turn pain into purpose. I began speaking, sharing my story publicly, showing up consistently online, and stepping into rooms that once intimidated me, even before I felt fully ready.
Over time, the very things that once made me feel disqualified became the foundation of my purpose and my business. Today, I help others reclaim their voice, own their story, and confidently step into leadership because I know firsthand what it feels like to fight your way back to yourself.
That journey taught me that resilience isn’t just about surviving difficult moments, it’s about choosing to become someone greater through them

We often hear about learning lessons – but just as important is unlearning lessons. Have you ever had to unlearn a lesson?
One of the biggest lessons I had to unlearn was the belief that my value was tied to how much I could prove, perform, or overextend myself for others.
For a long time, I thought being “enough” meant constantly giving, overworking, overexplaining, and trying to earn validation through achievement. A lot of that came from growing up feeling overlooked and underestimated. I developed this mindset that if I could just work harder, be more helpful, more talented, or more available, then people would finally see my worth.
The problem was, that mindset led to burnout, self-abandonment, and shrinking myself in rooms where I should have been fully standing in my power. I was showing up for everyone else while slowly disconnecting from myself.
The turning point came when I realized that confidence and worth are not things you earn through exhaustion, they come from alignment. I had to unlearn survival mode and learn how to simply own who I was without constantly trying to justify my presence.
That shift changed the way I lead, speak, build relationships, and run my business. It taught me that boundaries are healthy, clarity is powerful, and authenticity will always take you further than performance ever could.
Now, one of the biggest things I teach others is this: you do not have to over-prove your value when you truly understand it yourself.
