We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Sharonda Stewart. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Sharonda below.
Sharonda, appreciate you joining us today. Have you been able to earn a full-time living from your creative work? If so, can you walk us through your journey and how you made it happen? Was it like that from day one? If not, what were some of the major steps and milestones and do you think you could have sped up the process somehow knowing what you know now?
In 2021, I made an effort to invest in myself and I think that is the best thing that you can ever do. I hired a photographer and worked with several coaches to help me get to the next level. I am really close to becoming a full time creative.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers?
After teaching for five years, I became a stay at home mom. I never lost my passion for inspiring and helping other women and that is when Sporty Mommas was born. Sporty Mommas is a lifestyle brand that encourages moms to look and feel their best through apparel, events, blog and inspirational products.
In 2018, I attended a few blogger events and realized that this might be a great fit for me. I have always loved writing, photography and creating since I was a child and that is what content creators do. At the end of 2019, I began to take blogging serious and started applying to different campaigns and the rest is history. I slowly started working with brands and during the pandemic things really picked up. As a lifestyle blogger, I create content and brand awareness. I am also the chapter officer of the South Florida Mom Bloggers and a FemCity Miami Board Member.
Are there any resources you wish you knew about earlier in your creative journey?
I wish that I would have really tapped into the blogging community back in 2018/2019. I would probably be a lot further along. However I believe that we are exactly where we are supposed to be. There is so much value in community and surrounding yourself with like minded people. You really need the support because it can be quite challenging at times. There are communities like The Blogger Union and She Speaks that provide resources to help creators build your brand.
What do you think is the goal or mission that drives your creative journey?
My mission is to continue to inspire women to do what they love at any age. My influencer journey has lead me to some amazing collaborations and relationships and that is so important to me. I also want to show moms that they can create their own wealth doing things that they love!
